I made a turnbased war strategy game out of Yugioh cards, with campaigns and everything. Also, Tilestepping game anyone? Did it all the time as a kid, sometimes I still do it, except on the sidewalk concrete slabs. As far as anything extraordinary, I loved making maps of fantasy worlds (and still do), old-english style, with mountains and forests and landmarks drawn in and everything. I'd make miniature environments with my friends, too. In 3rd grade, the whole class used to go pick out weeds and plants by the sandbox and make a crater with a forest inside. I tried making a cracked earth type of environment in the snow sometime in gradeschool, and built little forts out of common household materials.
I assure you, I have no mental disorder though, as I don't think imagination has any correlation to whether or not you have one, much like Ven believes.
Didn't do anything for the sake of memorizing though. The things I do memorize from my childhood, I memorize because I liked that particular subject, and I like plenty of subjects. I didn't make a game though, I just reread things because they were interesting.
Uhhm, back on the topic of whether autism should be cured one day, of course it should be by choice. I don't think a doctor should force anyone to be treated if they don't want to.I fully understand that autism plays a part in a person's overall personality. If you're truly comfortable with autism, by all means, keep it.
