Personally, I agree he should recieve a harsh sentence, but believe life in prison should be phased out. There was a time it was valuble, such as when many innocents were wrongly convicted, but with the advancement of technology now, it is very easy to confirm whether or not a particular suspect is guilty. Thus, I believe life in prison and very long sentences - such as a century, which equates to life in prison, should be replaced with the death penalty (in turn, death row should be sped up considerably. A minimum of 3 executions per month would be reasonable, many are waiting for a decade or more).
The amount spent to feed, cloth, provide medical care for, and oversee a single immate, who is confirmed to have commited a crime, for the duration of his or her life is astronomical. It is simply not feasable. Thus, I would advocate death for this man on counts of kidnapping, rape, e.t.c. and on the premise of being noncontributive to society.
