Being Judged + Knowing One's Self

Postby CedarBranch » July 8th, 2013, 2:03 pm

I don't feel like saying much, because you probably know why, though I'd like to see this discussion start to involve more than my self, as some extra aid.

I have a problem, but it wasn't always a problem in my life. I don't know when it started, but I have what I'd personally consider a very very severe case of worrying how somebody would judge me in any way you could possibly imagine. (Mostly what/how I do things.)

I'm not saying anything else, because I don't want to be judged.

Just do what I do.

Unless it's someone you care about, don't give a damn about whatever anyone says about you.

And if it's a friend, family or whatever, consider it, but don't think of it as something absolute. If you think it's something you can improve upon, then great, maybe you could work on that. But if it's something you see nothing wrong with, then just discard it. Also, don't get sad or anything because of these things. When someone who cares about you talks about these things is for your own good. Normally.
Some day I'll fix my sig.

I found a quote that can help you fear less.

We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, while others judge us by what we have already done.

It's a natural to fear other people's opinions. It's fine to stay quiet. When I first joined, I lurked and posted very little of my opinion, views, stories, and interests. It takes time to warm up to people.

IRL you don't need to talk to everyone. Just stick with your closest circles if friends.

You shouldn't be afraid of having friends... Friendship one of the most awesome things in life (it's magic, after all :awe: )

If you're like me, try getting just the one friend. Before you know it you'll get tons and tons of other friends, without any real effort. :P

It's a different case when the people judging you have the power to totally ♥♥♥♥ your life up, sadly.

Judging and stereotypes. *siiiiigh*

I learnt people judge when they do not understand what you are going through.
People judge self harm as attention seeking because they don't understand why you would willingly hurt yourself, for example. It's actually a cry for help, not a cry for attention.
The stereotype that's kind of ♥♥♥♥ up my life is the one my dad used against me about asperger's syndrome- that I can't understand empathy. I once got a D in an English Literature relationships/romance essay back in high school, and my dad said "it's because you can't understand their love because you lack empathy". For most of my life, thanks to those kind of statements, I've felt like an emotionless robot.

But he is wrong. He tries to tell me it's fact and I can't deny it, but even professionals with autism have proven that's a myth and is not at all true. Plus I know what empathy is, I feel it way too much. Maybe that's the problem I have. :P

It's wrong to truly judge someone unless you truly know them. What if you seriously offend someone and stop them doing what they wanted? What if they could of made a huge discovery, and your judgment stopped them? You don't know the harm you could do.

In all honesty this is me word for word. I fear opinion and judgement, to the point I am afraid to voice my opinion.

But rather than fix the problem, I have used it as a benefit. While I am afraid to be in front of people, I do tell others my idea and ask them to voice it for me. As a form of respect they never take the credit, but acknowledge the work I go through to publicize the plan.

What you have is loads of anxiety, which stems from your ASD. However, you can choose to use it and make dreams true with your problem, or you can conquer it. It is all up to you, regardless.
