Domain Hopping

DISCLAIMER: I don't link to any content off-site, you'll know why this is important as you go through this topic. Just throwing that out there so I don't get yelled at when the subject finally reveals itself...

Ok, just to start off, if you know anything about this particular website in question, and its famous domain hopping journey all around the world, you probably already know which site I'm talking about. It's a fairly recent subject, and in a way, a funny one too.

First of all, don't jump to conclusions here, I know this is a questionable topic, which most would hesitate to talk about on the forums. Even so, I find their recent plight really freaking hilarious in a cruel way, so I present to you...
Spoiler: show
The Pirate Bay's Wild Domain Hopping Journey!
(don't worry, I'm not linking to anything off-site in this topic)

Talk about a sailing ship, these guys can't stay in one place can they? Basically, they're finally being chased down for everything that the site has been doing since its conception. Every domain that they move to gets taken down within days, and they continue on and on and on. Of course, this isn't the first time they've made a move like this, but this is much more frequent, and you can tell that their end is coming soon.

They deserve it anyways. No amount of free speech arguments can cover up what the site is really about, and what it really does. On the other hand, I can say that I'll miss being able to stay up to date on games that I would otherwise not be able to afford, but those days will soon be over as well, since I'm almost out of highschool and can finally find the time to commit myself to a job to pay for that sort of stuff + living expenses. Yeah I know, piracy, a guilty pleasure, but hey, we all have a guilty pleasure, be it small or large.

I know everyone here is in some shape or form against piracy, and I look back at my use of the site and feel a bit ashamed for that. I went back and payed for most of the games I downloaded just out of the fact that they deserve the money for making a game that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Now that that's all said and done, I want to end this saying that even though free speech is important, it doesn't help their argument when the sites users are also downloading the latest trending games and music for free at the same time. (I've never actually used free speech as a defense for my actions, but rather, I just kept quiet about it to some extent.) It's kind of like Anonymous, at first glance they seem Ok to some, but in the end they turn into something more paradoxical. They argue about free speech in order to save themselves while they also break the law. (and please, no flamewars in this topic, I've seen my fair share of newssite comment boards become entrenched with flamewars from both sides of the situation, be civil)

So now, I finally find the courage to press the submit button after previewing and re-editing this topic almost ten times. One disclaimer later, and I'm finally ready to hit the submit button... *gets ready to run and hide* *click*

*sends a search party for Newgen*

lel, pirate bay hopping around everywhere. I don't have much to say about them, but meh. I remember downloading an emulator for Earthbound once because it's a pain to find a real (and non-expensive) SNES copy of it nowadays... ofc I still payed for some sort of unrelated merchandise to support Nintendo and their stuff.

The Pirate Bay is a website that does piracy.

Piracy is illegal.

Illegal websites get shut down.

Therefore, The Pirate Bay gets shut down.

The people who made it remake it on a different domain.

It gets found and shut down again, then remade again, then shut down again...

You would probably understand this a lot better if you read the original post more carefully.

There are several news websites, minus the usual ones like CNN, NBC, FOX, that talk about their whereabouts from time to time. It's really just a matter of looking it up on google's news search. Sometimes it's not that easy however, and you'd only know where it's at if you were truly looking for it.

Damn. It was a good site while it lasted too, but America had to get involved in internet ♥♥♥♥ again, I guess...
Why don't they migrate domains over east though?

I don't think it was a good site at all, sure I used it but most of the time it's only if I didn't have the money for what I wanted or just wasn't able to find it.
The stie is pretty much ripping money off of companies and people, which is never cool.

It's only a matter of time before the Pirate Bay gets banned from all the domains they can put their website on. What I wonder is what they'll do once they run out of domains. I theorize that either they launch a satellite up into space so that way they'd have their own domain for the Pirate Bay that couldn't be shut down so easily, or they'll whine about how the government are meanies for daring to prevent their website from causing entertainment companies to lose money.
