Neknominations

Postby A-Team » February 9th, 2014, 9:38 pm

Is the term that describes young people getting engaged in a drinking challenge. What they have to do is to attempt to drink the entire contents of alcohol that they have in front of them, while recording a video of it, then posting it online, to prove to everyone that they can do it successfully. However, this bugs me, because it's stupid, and a great way to poison yourself to death.

Neknominating is a stupid thing to do. At least I rather not stoop to their level, and chug a whole bottle of liquor, until I gets killed. Discuss your opinions here.

Yeah, it's definitely a stupid thing to do. Just alcohol and similar abuses in general never really helps the body. However, I'm afraid you're aware WHY people do it, correct? Some people just happen to be alcoholics due to some influence. That influence could be a family issue, it could be a personal issue, or something we don't understand, probably because it makes them feel better when they're intoxicated or they're just competitors.

Although why they record themselves doing it I'm not sure why.

Pride, that's all there is to this.

The game most likely to be started by a person saying "I dare you to drink this bottle of wine!Or you scared?"

Most of the teenagers will defend their pride by actually doing the challenge.

Believe it or not,you can tease a lot of them into doing something easily, because our brain have this kind of pride defense mechanism.

I do agree with Peter's post, although the funny thing is, if someone were to say to me "What, you're too scared?" I wouldn't feel any urge to go ahead and do it. I'd just sit there and look at them, like "there are better things to do than swig a bottle of vodka in one go".

Er,sorry about my horrid grammar there.

Funny, just today one of my music professors was giving a lecture, and during the lecture he included from his own experience that the hardest thing for any living person to do is admit a mistake. Kinda goes with the whole pride thing. However, you're bound to encounter someone with either too little or an average amount of pride. Although the likeliness of that happening seems to have dropped nowadays.

Er,sorry about my horrid grammar there.

Honestly, I'd think that doing this would hurt my not-so-existent pride. Being drunk is not on my agenda, and I hope it never will be. I'm not even sure if I will like alcohol when I hit 21, especially since I got a taste of some via tea for my sore throat, and that tasted really bitter. I also drank some years ago when I was younger, since I thought I was drinking fruit punch, but after one sip I threw it away since it was also too bitter because it had wine in it. It turned out that the dispenser with the real fruit punch was right next to the one with the alcoholic beverage.
