Long story short, 4chan hacker leaked nude/pornographic images and videos of over 100 female celebrities from iCloud, it's being leaked across reddit, across 4chan, and now people are making a personal profit from it on Twitter by selling accounts that have the media stored on them.

Personally, this ♥♥♥♥ has me fuming for personal reasons...nonetheless, discuss. I will not post links, because that would infringe ToS, and the rules.

I'm not familiar with iCloud or any other Cloud services, but as far the material existed, and furthemore uploaded on a Cloud then I guess that's it. Yes it breaks privacy rules and others jadajada, but I would blame them for creating that material in the first place. Hey if you make it, expect other people to see it aswell, be them friends, family or strangers.

Yeah, true, most of the blame does fall on them.

Still, the fact that people would take advantage of such mistakes to this degree is pretty horrid.

How does "most of the blame" not fall on the perverted ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who deliberately hacked people's data to get pictures that were intended for purely private use and showed them to everyone?

Eh, you know once you upload a photo of something (especially something explicit), it's bound to be viewed by more people than you intend to.

I don't know a whole lot of the details regarding how securely they kept those photos under wraps and private measures, but I really don't get why they put that up there in the first place.

I would like to point out that these people starting idiotic campaigns are a miniscule fraction of 4chan, and that just because there's a few ♥♥♥♥♥ doesn't mean everyone else is a ♥♥♥♥

Hold it, hold it right there. As I said don't know how cloud works (can dropbox be considered cloud aswell? If so then I might have an idea about it), but as far as I know it's internet and anyone creating this kind of material should aknoweledge that it can be viewed by anybody who "by magic" gets access to it. If you don't want anyone to see it then don't creat it, it's as simple as that. Uploading explicit material on internet (cloud) cannot guarentee safety, no matter how protected and private the service is and they should know that them being uploaded here is increasing the chances of somebody actually seeing the material.

Look I don't care if they were victims and had the right to have some privacy in their photos. But as long as they created them, they should had full knoweledge of what can happen to it, who can see it and consequences. I've also seen several stories on Imgur about "I recorded how me and my boy/girl-friend were making love and the family/friends saw them fml". I don't feel anything for them but just say "Idiot" straight in their faces. Why do you even want to record that kind of films and/or pictures? Do you like want to remember how "sexy" you were X years ago? Or you actually want someone else to see them aswell? Either way, keep in mind they don't exist = they cannot be viewed. From my point of view this victims could have protected themselves better. I don't try to defend the hackers, but I will not just go "aww you sad soul" on the victims when they DID NOT THINK ENOUGH. You can disagree with me, I'm keeping my opinion.

Gee, I wonder what kind of private use means here, or maybe it wasn't really intended to be private in the first place, did it?
