There's a thing called "Sunk Coast Fallacy". It perfectly applies here. Fails happen, and it you stick to your expections too much, you'll just make it worse. (In other words: Consider canceling the vacation right now or after a week or such)

Rolf Dobelli (author) wrote:The film was miserable. After an hour I whispered to my wife: "Come on, let's go home." She answered: "Surely not! Do you seriously think I've spent $40 for the cinema tickets?" - "That's no argument. The 40 dollars are lost anyways. You just fell for the lines of the Sunk Cost Fallacy." - "You and your stupid fallacies", she responded, pronouncing the word "fallacies" as she had something bitter in her mouth.

Next day, marketing session. The advertising campaign is already running since four months - without any considerable success. I've suggested stopping the thing immediately. The advertising manager set against that with the following reasoning: "We've already put so much money in this campaign, and if we stop it was all for the birds." Also him: a victim of the Sunk Cost Fallacy.

Rating standards: show
1 star: (0 - 5.75 in LDC) These levels need a lot of work. They're totally un-elaborated, and/or inherently flawed due to things like cutoff or enemy spam, or they're untested and there are too many bugs gameplay-wise, in short: Many many things went wrong in such a level.

2 stars: (6 - 9.75) These levels are not terrible, but poor. They're too short, lack scenery or they have errors and/or bugs but it's still barely enjoyable. Again, spend more effort and try to do better. (if it's your first level that I rate two stars, it's not bad. There's a long way you can still go)

3 stars: (10 - 12.75) These levels are about mediocre. They may be still a little bit short, the gameplay is fine but not very original and graphics are also solid, but not breath-taking. Try to keep improving!

4 stars: (13 - 15) These levels are nice, but not the best. Effort has been put into them, there can some professionality be seen in gameplay and graphics, they're a nice experience to play, but there are still things you can do to make it even better. Try to go the extra mile!

5 stars: (15.25 - 20) These are really great levels, those which, as said, I would give more than 15 in an LDC. These suffice many high requirements, and it already goes into subtleties if you want to make them better. These levels are successful all around. Bravo.

These are just general principles I try to follow when rating. Sometimes I don't leave a further comment when rating, most times I do, if you have questions about it, feel free to ask further.

My sister said,"I'm scared mom and dad might grab their knives and kill each other just like the news before." Mom and Dad finally got back but they argued again. I always had a feeling they would argue again.
Setun's situation is similar to me but my Mom and Dad haven't killed each other yet.

Oh gosh, of course I'm late on a post like this. Supershroom summed up some of my thoughts, but I've been through this kind of thing before and I can't help but feel your pain.

The best you can do is be there for your family, I guess. Voice any opinions if you have them, ask questions, gain information and a better understanding of the situation... as Supershroom said, you have a right to know. But the most important thing to NOT do is take bias. Unless if one parent is clear cut taking advantage of another, it's important to give them both some shadow of a doubt. Maybe the hard relationship just came from misunderstandings, or effects from both sides.

And if your Mother or Father is talking smack behind another's back, tell them to stop. That's the last thing all of you need.
Expect something cool here soon!

After a few days I just realised you are right. Worst situation now. Can't use word to explain. I just can say that is 100, no, 1000 times worse.

My mom and me want to go home immediately while my dad still adhere to continue and finding new hotel.

I figured a follow-up post on my life was quite necessary, considering much has happened since my last foray into the forums.

About a month ago, I was working my job (as a fast food worker at Wendy's), when my stepmother recognized my name, and said that my half-sister was looking for me. I was quite shocked as I was trying to find the other side of my family, and there they were. We scheduled to spend some time together the next day, which I had off, and so we went to discussing our positions in life, and I found out that my half-sister is pregnant with her first child, so that makes me an aunt. However, she doesn't want to meet me now because she is worried I'll take her parents away from her, but she has a pretty strained relationship with them, given that she is almost the complete opposite personality of me and has experimented with drugs. My father was apparently not good to her when she was little, but I'll get back to that.

So, later, I treated my stepmother (who technically isn't married to my father anymore and hasn't been since before I was born, but I consider her family since she and my biological mother once got along at one point; it was quite an awkward relationship) to dinner and ice-cream, and we decided to see if my father was at his parents' house, and lo and behold, I met my father for the first time since I was born. He looks older because of his drinking and smoking problems in the past, but he seemed to be really happy to see me all grown up, and a lot different than what my mother had said he was. But, he wanted to form a relationship with me, which I happily accepted and have hung out with him a few times, just talking to him about my life here and it. It's a foreign emotion to form a parental bond, but I wish to cultivate it and see how different he is and if he is better off than where he was when he was with my mother.

College is starting in a couple of weeks, finally. I am changing my work schedule yet again so that I can work nights in order to attend the classes I signed up for. I'll be working towards an associate's in social sciences here to supplement a neuroscience degree when I transfer to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Currently, I'm signed up for 4 classes: Biology, Psychology, English, and Intermediate Algebra, so I'll be a full-time student going to classes Monday-Friday. As for tuition, it has been completely paid off through pell grants and scholarships, so I don't have to worry about paying bills (due to me living in a transitional housing program, I'm considered homeless by the state, so I have a lot of benefits being in my situation).

Overall, life in the past couple of months has been a big change for me, as the Zoloft and supplements I've been taking have done so much to help me, and being away from my mother has also done wonders for my mood. I can't believe where I am today, on top of my obligations for being a new adult and conquering my depression day by day.

Anyway, I am off to go play Magic: the Gathering at the local FNM tournament, or at least play some EDH with some folks that I know there.

Wonderful to hear Oreo. I'm going to be starting my second full year of college at the beginning of next month, so I'm pretty excited for that myself. Gonna still have time to visit the site though, only taking 3 classes since I got some English courses out of the way early.
Expect something cool here soon!

I agree with what Harmless said. It's interesting to think about how connected we all are with starting/continuing our college careers. A transition to adulthood that's sure to bring exciting and confusing moments to everybody. I hope neuroscience works out for you, Oreo. :D
