I realized recently that it was Iwata who was responsible for cleaning up the code in Pokemon Gold and Silver to where the development team could add in Kanto. Gold was what got me hooked on the series as my first Pokemon game, and hearing more about Iwata's achievements makes me both happier to know how much he's influenced my life and somber of his passing.

I can say with confidence that this man pushed gaming much further and made it what we know today, and without him the gaming industry would be much different. I'm not a crier at all, but damn I felt tears coming when I saw this.
Rest in piece, Iwata. You were a great man and a great influence on what we know and love.
