I've been seeing this story all over the internet today. It's a shame the preconceived notions that have seeped into the minds of some Americans thanks to the media. What Obama said was pretty cool, though. What's interesting is how they violated the kid's rights by not letting him be with his parents during his interrogation.

Ahmed also said the principal threatened to expel him if he didn't write a statement. A disgraceful display.

Well, a lot of this is also on the heels of several stories about stupid teenagers running away to join ISIS because it's inspiring, or some ♥♥♥♥.

Hi. I feel for the people of that area, and the stupidity they swim in every day, but that doesn't mean that joining a terrorist group is going to help save the world.

We need to STOP the stupid, people. Stop, think, and use our words, and MAYBE we can come to an adult solution to all of this, that doesn't involve bomb vests OR drones.

Apparently there will be no charges to him and the kid got pretty lucky because it was a heavily mediatised aspects, not only the tweets, reddit posts and so on grabbed attention, but the fact that Obama, Zuckerberg and a few others sticked with him saved his skin. Unfortunatelly, I believe there are more cases like this outthere, where the news hardly make their way to the media (or not at all) and thus those children won't benefit the same way this one did.

"We have always had an outstanding relationship with the Muslim community," Irving Police Department chief Larry Boyd said on Wednesday. "Incidents like this present challenges. We want to learn how we can move forward and turn this into a positive".

The sad thing is that yes, today it IS a realistic thought that a 14-year-old could be an extremist who plans a terrorist attack. Given my state of knowledge, I wouldn't blame the teacher for suspecting a bomb because something ominous catched her eye. The problem is the dealing afterwards, and yes, there's got to be a kind of stereotyping, and unfortunately, it's a common fallacy, and noone is safe against it even if they're convinced to be so. Firing the cops would be too harsh. And remind the good sides of this outcome - they've admitted their mistakes, and Ahmed got the attention from an entire country with the size of over 9 million square kilometers.

Nan's sig! From the previous Secret Santa event!: show
Rating standards: show
1 star: (0 - 5.75 in LDC) These levels need a lot of work. They're totally un-elaborated, and/or inherently flawed due to things like cutoff or enemy spam, or they're untested and there are too many bugs gameplay-wise, in short: Many many things went wrong in such a level.

2 stars: (6 - 9.75) These levels are not terrible, but poor. They're too short, lack scenery or they have errors and/or bugs but it's still barely enjoyable. Again, spend more effort and try to do better. (if it's your first level that I rate two stars, it's not bad. There's a long way you can still go)

3 stars: (10 - 12.75) These levels are about mediocre. They may be still a little bit short, the gameplay is fine but not very original and graphics are also solid, but not breath-taking. Try to keep improving!

4 stars: (13 - 15) These levels are nice, but not the best. Effort has been put into them, there can some professionality be seen in gameplay and graphics, they're a nice experience to play, but there are still things you can do to make it even better. Try to go the extra mile!

5 stars: (15.25 - 20) These are really great levels, those which, as said, I would give more than 15 in an LDC. These suffice many high requirements, and it already goes into subtleties if you want to make them better. These levels are successful all around. Bravo.

These are just general principles I try to follow when rating. Sometimes I don't leave a further comment when rating, most times I do, if you have questions about it, feel free to ask further.

Because my state is fueled by profiling and discriminating ideologies. Sad but true.

Even I could look at it and say it's not a bomb. It would have been counting down on the LED. There wouldn't have been shoddy fastenings of the interior that would pose a risk of shorting the "bomb" and detonating it early. And the key factor here?

A lack of explosives.

A can of hairspray in a Texas girl's purse is more hazardous, considering some students smoke. A cell phone could be exploded, seeing how teens aren't as careful in the south with them. There's so many things that are more dangerous than a beginner's clock project that I don't even know where to begin.

The case can look suspicious and in a country that is considered terrorist's arch-enemy, keeping your guard up is a good thing.
Except after read about the case and how the staff handled it, I would blame the teachers and the police too. So the kid throwed some circuits in a box and called it a clock, teacher suspects it's a bomb. OK I agree that for some without the knoweledge to tell the difference it's acceptable to be scared and call for help. Except they didn't do that. They confiscated the bomb and kept it at the principal's, called the police and patiently waited for them to pick up the kid. Did not evacuate the building (which should be normal in case of a bomb attendat, am I right?) nor called the pyrotechnists to attempt to defuse it, furthermore after everything showed that the kid did nothing wrong, they would still consider charging for a hoax bomb (they didn't because of the massive support the kid got, but even so the thing that they declared they'd charge the guy for a fake bomb is massive ♥♥♥♥).

My conclusion? They probably knew it wasn't a bomb (according to the articles, which may be more or less acurate) and just wanted to screw the poor guy. Firing probably won't change anything in the US. I remember the case of the texan girl who was shot for carrying a knife (and of course why try to aim for the hand or foot when you can morally shoot it, it's more effective).

Well, I heard my mum saying how it was unfair that something like this may ruin his life opportunities. But I don't think it will, it's had so much coverage in the media and pretty much everyone is sticking up for him, I think this is gonna change his life in a good way. Obama's already said how he wants Ahmed to present his inventions at the whitehouse and Zuckerberg has basically offered him an opportunity at facebook too.

I hate the injustice of this situation, but what I love about it is it proves that when we want to, we humans can work together and fight for what we know is right.
