Honestly, while I'm sympathetic for the infant, it's not rocket science that you aren't supposed to use one of these things around children or in areas where they can be endangered. The drone is as dangerous as a child's 4x4 jeep(trust me, I've had my feet and back ran over by them as a kid).

I'm against drones being available to the public. Not just because people can get hurt. You can use the drone to spy on other people, to transport illicit things... someone with the knowledge can use these for many... bad things. Just attach a gun to it, and...
Also when I see that one kid's drone flying near my house I can't help but wanting to throw a stone at it.

Nan, you can do that with anything. There's guides on how to make a homemade rifle from a metal pipe, plunger, spring, and wooden handle, dating as far back as the 10s and 20s in America.

Not necessarily. You could say that banning the sale of poison would stop homicide attempts, yet there still exists means, such as homemade ricin. Likewise, banning knives won't stop someone from making shanks.
I personally wouldn't mind drones being permitted for civilian use, as computers eventually were in the 70s and 80s. Drones are as equally dangerous as a PC was in the 80s and 90s, just look at the blackhats and viruses.
If anything, pass better precautions, maybe, or require a license to own one, if it's professionally made and not ordered as a toy product. But don't ban it, that won't stop someone from crafting one.

I mean, I do see where you're going. Restricting usage of dangerous equipment can prevent these cases from happening again. It's a catch-22, though, in regards to who and what it affects in the end.
