Report: Assad Never Used Chemical Weapons

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPWC) has reported that the sarin gas used in the Syrian chemical attacks were not linked to Assad's stockpiles.

The West tried to use the chemical attacks to rally against Assad, which allowed ISIS and others to rise. The Western states have pursued this as a proxy war against Russia, using propaganda about the war being fought for freedom to misrepresent the nature of the hostilities.

Syria is a secterian war. The Sunni majority has been fighting against the government, which is overwhelmingly supported by Shia sects and Christians. It was no surprise that most of the Free Syrian Army transitioned easily to ISIS forces. It is and always was a religious war.

Assad is a secular ruler who protected religious minorities, himself being an Alawite, which is why they're fighting for him. This is not the first time the West has supported fundamentalists trying to overthrow secular governments. In 1979, the West supported the Islamic revolution in Iran to overthrow the secular, progressive government of the Shah and replace it with a Shia theocracy.

They did this because they felt secular, non-religious states would align themselves with the Soviet Union, whereas religious theocrats could be easily controled by Western powers willing to suppport their authority.

The Western support for the Syrian rebels, both in the media and through military strikes, is just another attempt to replace a secular state with a religious theocracy to shift the balance of power against Russia.

I remember reading up on that coupe a while back, so it doesn't really surprise me that once again, the American government is caught exercising it's power a bit too much in places it shouldn't need be.

Interesting perspective. Thanks for posting, because I literally would not have known otherwise (and I didn't really have very strong of an opinion on the matter at all up until now, though I guess that's mostly because I didn't have much information. It's fun experiencing censorship and propaganda firsthand.) I can't say I'm very surprised about all this, but it's sure as hell disillusioning.
