Reliability

So waking up this morning I received a note from good ol Dad that I need to go with my sibling to drop off a package at the UPS store, preferably leaving around 11:00 AM. Sibling got the general gist of what was needed to be taken care of too. So I wake up at 8:30 AM, do some preparations for the task and college an hour later at 12. Turns out, 10:47 and they're still not out of bed. They murmur, we'll go when I get back from college in the afternoon.

That's fair, I guess.

So I head out to college, come back at 3:30, and they're up. They tell me we'll leave in 30 minutes instead of leaving in like... I dunno, 1 minute like planned. Okay, I guess. I hop on my computer and do a few things, then start to slowly lose track of time. I wonder if they actually remembered themselves.

Needless to say an hour passed by and I ♥♥♥♥ up really bad. My Dad comes home, notices we haven't left yet, gets super upset. Apparently he never bothered to ask me what happened, and my sibling starts making up all this ♥♥♥♥ about how "they reminded me to leave after I got back" (which is a total lie, I was only told we were leaving in some arbitrary amount of time), and how it's all my fault apparently we never left before the store closed.

Then I get chewed out and get yelled at and am completely shunned for the rest of the day because I'm "unreliable as ♥♥♥♥" and can't even do one favor for them.

So while I could easily post this in Get things off your chest, thing is, there's some context and some discussion topics behind this. This wasn't the first time I miserably ♥♥♥♥ up and lost track of time, resulting in being unreliable (though in this particular case today it wasn't entirely my fault). And even whether or not it's my fault I still feel awful, because a month ago I've been seriously trying to step up in being more reliable around the house.

What the hell do I even do at this rate? I want to be reliable, I want to practice being reliable. Yet every time I get the opportunity to I ♥♥♥♥ up miserably. It doesn't help that my memory has been going down the drain since recently to the point where I can't even remember what I did an hour ago.

Someone please help. This is maddening.

This wasn't really a case of you being forgetful, but rather a case of your siblings being manipulative ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Regardless, I've always had awful memory, like, remarkably bad. I'm known for it by everyone around me. Short-term wise, that is. Long-term wise, I remember everything. I used to be like you a lot, but I started using the technology around me a lot more. Set reminders, don't act like it won't help you, cause it really does. My phone and computer is flooded with them.
To improve your memory in general, I just play a lot of puzzle games like sudoku/crosswords or just read in general. I'm not good at those kind of games but it engages the brain and it really helps.

Thanks for responding. I probably should be using my phone calendar more, now that I've started looking at my Dad's schedule and his computer calendars I can see your point, he jots down everything to the point where it completely fills the screen.

I should really go back to playing Professor Layton again.
