But the other thing I've experienced "sounds" extra sensory, but I don't know really.

On some nights, I'd become ridiculously drowsy as I try to remain awake. But as I lay down, I could play instruments in my head. Sometimes, they play back violently and my ears would vibrate. If I'd continue, though, they may really start sounding horrible and out of my control.

What is this called?

I don't know. Sometimes, I get the feeling of intense sound that emanates out of my ears - the exact same way you're describing, even. It doesn't happen very often, but it's happened often enough that I know it's there and it's a thing. What exactly causes it, I'm clueless on though.
