Basically it's light.While Indigo is a mix that doesn't mean that it can't be in a rainbow. I mean,even if you think it doesn't belong in it,we can't just shift the colors of the rainbow in our liking.

Yah, likght=7 colors. When we spin 7 colors together, it will become white (light).

I know this story in school, no chirist story please. Well, rainbow is not made with water, it just because water is clear and light on them and will make it to 7 different rainbow on the sky. The rainbow can only appear when there were: A big rainstorm,After the rainstorm, it get suddenly a sunny weather.

Okay, back to the Rainbow, Rainbow is just make with white, than white is made with red (Not very red, like pink) light, green (Nearly yellow one.) light, (Blue like the sky outside your building.) blue light. (Light, if it is color and mix them=Black.) That 3 oringal color mix together and can made: Red+Yellow=orange. Yellow+blue=Green. Blue+red=Purple. So we only get 6 colors, but...... Have you heard rainbow make with 6 color, no. so added a color and make it to 7 color.

Red, orange,yellow, green......

Because yellow is like green.

Also, I am sure your "Yellow" is not that kinda Yellow. Not like that bright, it is more green and darker, like:

There are 2 different sets of Primary colors: Light (Red, green, and blue.) and Color (Red, yellow, and blue). In light, red and green make yellow, green and blue make cyan, and red and blue make magenta. And all of those colors mixed together makes white (but this only works with light, not paint or crayons or any of that stuff. That's what the color section of this post is for.). Those are also the colors used in color printers. Now with color, (this is pretty obvious) red and yellow make orange, yellow and blue make green, and red and blue make purple/violet. Now, indigo is made with blue and purple/violet, which doesn't really fit in with the rest. So, then they had 2 choices: add all the other colors (red-orange, sunset orange, yellow-green/green-yellow, turquoise/teal, and magenta, or they could take indigo out. So they took indigo out. That means that this topic doesn't need to be here anymore, but then again, people do like to discuss things....
