Me taking an extension normally always means I ♥♥♥♥ something up. Thus means. Losing my progress due stupidity, getting into arguments in RL, my level would get disqualified so I need a bit more time to make a new one from scratch in a ridiculous amount of time. Caugh Underwhere Caugh. Other than that quite serious troubles or discussions several people could easily confirm if needed. I know I probably count to the people who should go away and don't even try to do LDing stuff. But if I would just go, I know at the same time that the more it happens the less possible is me getting back into it.

About some of the endless long posts above. It's true that I designed some time before I came to runouw. About three years.
Yeah... That's embarrassing to see the results after this amount of time. I know for sure by experience with other people and on my own, that people who don't give up easily and continue trying to get better will always go far. May it be LDing, art, stories, or RL stuff. It's always that way. Some things are ''worth'' to keep improving on them. Some are not. Of course also that changes a lot from person to person.

As far as I've seen, people like Triple J (best example I could think of right now.) with loads... I mean really loads of patience and a good amount of skilI. can easily see him taking the place of one of the legends not too far in the future. That also counts for 1018peter or how the number was. Or Su Yo if he keeps trying and does those things more frequently. I know about all three of them that they have easily potencial for gold in a LDC one day if they don't give up.

Some smaller but important note. Should someone of you get ever into a situation where a better designer wants to teach you, or teaches you already things. Then take that chance if you want to get far. I know by experience that exact those situations end with beating the designer you learned from. (Except Pierre. He is probably the only exception I know.) +ending as a legend on one or multiple sites. That happened at least to Runner, DT and maybe me in the future. (It's at least a goal I'm aiming for.)

I'm aware my grammar above sucks, it's awfully hard to understand me and nobody will bother reading that. But that was going through my mind right now. So don't hurt me. :3

I am not saying and never said that the old system was a failure. The old system did work for some people, but I believe in adding an additional reource so that other people can get better. I am saying that while it is true that some people with lots of willpower were able to exploit the system as well as they could and ended up being current legends. But it did not work as well for other people. I am probably an example for that. I spent four years level designing here, in SMF and other level designers, and while I did get better very slowly I realized something: I was becoming way too much involved in this. I remember being very depressed and doing some stupid stuff when I failed, at a point when I realized that this was not worh it. I was damaging myself above anything else, and for a purpose that just was not as rewarding as I thought it would be. My idea is that maybe adding a different, separate kind of community based event so that different people can try to get better. Nobody loses anything, and some people do win something.

What do we lose trying something different? It may fail, no doubt, but it could work. And if we fail we end up losing nothing really substancial. I do not want to eliminate the other system, I just want to add a new one as well, so that people can try both things and chose which one of them they seem to enjoy most, or if lucky, maybe even both. When the community is run by people that have succeded with the current system it is hard to see why it may be worth to change. But the fact that some people could win with this is what we should consider, not if they could also win if what there already is. Beacause yes, yes they could. But it would take lots of maybe unnecesary efforts, and like in my case, maybe even unworthy.

Those are my two cents. I don't want good levels to be done, I want people to have fun while designing. I want people to find the passion and intrest that is behind this art. And sometimes that passion is found through different ways, and trying them may not be that much of a bad idea.

Personally, I don't understand why we can't give new features a test run in events - surely if we test to see what happens, we'll know for definite what to do eventually?

Our current method seems to be debating over the supposedly best method, then employing it and ignoring complaints.

Really, the only change that everyone's been suggesting is to extend the average length of an LDC. It's not like they want a new rule restricting you from using a specific item or anything ridiculous like that. It's worth a shot.

I wonder who's Runner and DT.

By the way, this topic is flooded with positive, negative and confusing long posts. My eyes hurt.

By the way,what's RL?

Isn't this topic supposed to discuss about new ideas which can be implemented, instead of confusion and misunderstandings?

It's to discuss anything to do with LDC issues, whatever the issue goes into.

So the topic is for discussing about whatever issue LDCs run into, not only for the current one?
Also,I believe RL stands for Real Life.
