In short form: Who fights, can eventually lose. Who gives up, has already lost. And you appear to be blind for the facts now. Look at your recent portal levels and look at what star ratings they have. Even if they may have technical improval or had some lag or didn't go the extra mile, they were all very pleasant overall.
Now to be less off-topic, there were people who showed disgust at the imagination of SM63 (or LL) designing being a sport whatsoever. Well, first off that's of course not true at all because judgings in generally are so difficult to be objective and quite impossible to be in a narrow range for everyone - it just seems like we have to deal with the fact that even two absolute pro's on the game (or two Steven Spielberg's, to use Raiyuuni's terminology <3) can differ within many points on the same level. If you love this art, you must learn to live with these odds. You may sometimes shine on top, you may sometimes land in the middle field, and you may sometimes tumble on your ♥♥♥. But in the latter case, it's impressive if you can stand up again and shake it off. And, you all know what, even absolute legends like MP3 are not safe against eventually also placing lower (and even appreciate that as an alternation to winning, kek). LDCs also almost always write amusant stories and trivia like e.g. me missing placement in the 4th mini-LDC by only a tenth of a point, lawl.
So, find the balance between wanting to place well and having fun. Become a bit more easy-going. It still allows you wanting to win. Honestly, of course I wish to win once I enter an LDC. I try giving my best, and if it doesn't succeed or even if I'm upset with judgings in particular, I can at least say that I've tried. (took me also quite a while to get to this point). Remember the Olympic motto: Taking part is everything. It's literally a reason why I've started my Eternal Score Table. Taking part often is what gathers you a high position there in the first place :>.
EDIT: For the judges, you should also pay attention to write your reviews as nicely as possible (not too nice, but never stridely or such), because often words hurt even more than numbers.
