Were there any other codes in the sign at the time? Like bold or italics?

Nope.

Could you make a level with a sign that is partially underlined, as an example, so I could look at it and see what I may be doing wrong?

Okay, I'll try to remember to do it tomorrow. I'm on my phone right now.

I would talk like a human being if saying it like that weren't so damn funny. :3

Okay. So I decided to give it one last try... and I figured out what was wrong. This may end up being embarrassing for me, but I overlooked the simplest thing. All this time, I've been arranging it as <u/> INSTEAD of </u>.

But I am human. I make mistakes.

EDIT: Oh, and I would [like] to point out to anyone who may not know this, but TO MY KNOWLEDGE, strike through text tags do not work in the Level Designer.
I would love to be incorrect, but I cannot find any that work there.

2nd EDIT: *strike-through
Overlooked it.

If I am reading this right, you are saying there isn't an encoding symbol for some of the above? Well, if you click viewtopic.php?f=15&t=7023, you will find a post from fourinone that includes another link, which will take you to a website with a table that lists all of the character codes.
There are codes for the 5 listed above. Hope I helped, but...

give fourinone the credit! :awe:

Edit: Whoops! My first double-post!
2nd Edit: This is what I meant by overlooking simple things. I, unfortunately, tend to do this sometimes, even if I quintuple-check!
But it is over and done with (for me); it was only my first time.
3rd Edit: Looks like this topic may potentially die. :(

I'm sure that strike-through works, or at least did work when I last used the level designer (a long time ago). Maybe things have changed, but check it out for yourself! You may be pleasantly surprised.

And... Sorry, but I'm a bit confused. Why give fourinone the credit? I transfered all of the HTML sign information without an outside table or chart. It just so happens that four posted on a completely different forum a link that gave the same information. ._.

SaxEdit: Just realized that this is a month+ bump. If it's an un-bump-worthy post, I'll just erase it (or you guys can do it yourselves).

A: I tried all I could, but Strike-through text tags do not have any effect on signs. :( You could be right about things changing, though.

B: I apologize if the credit I gave was highly unnecessary. I often try too hard to follow rules.

... I feel I should get this out of my system (and I do not know if this would be an unusual time to blurt things like this out): I have a disability that makes me talk
and think differently from everyone else in most of the world. It impairs my social skills too. :(

Well, returning to on-topic mode: I noticed that if you arrange the tags cleverly enough, you can mix them in interesting ways. Here is an example:

Code: Select all
<font color="#FFFF00"><font size="80">Stuffage.</font><font color="#FF0000">
<font size="12">There is an <i><u>egg</u></i> in <s>my</s> soup. Call the Porch Police. Eat <font color="#965A38">jail</font> for lunch.</font></font>

On a sign inside a level, it will look like this:

Code: Select all
50x31~0*60*2Q2Y0*29*2K2M0*29*2b2n0*29*2L2N0*29*2L2N0*29*2L2N0*29*2a2m0*29*2K2M0*29*2K2M0*29*2K2M0*29*2K2M0*29*2K2M0*29*2K2M0*25*2U2Y*3*2[2M0*25*2L2N2M*4*0*25*2L2N2P2M*3*0*25*2a2m2M*4*0*25*2K2M*5*0*24*2e2g2M*4*2P0*24*2c2m2M*2*2P2M*2*0*24*2K2M*6*0*24*2R2Z*6*0*149*2W2Y*5*0*25*2c2M*5*0*24*2e2g2M*5*0*24*2c2m2M*5*0*24*2K2M*6*0*24*2K2M*6*0*24*2K2M*2*2P2M*3*0*24*2K2M*6*0*24*2K2M*6*0*24*2K2M*6*0*24*2K2M*6*0*24*2K2M2O2M*4*0*24*2K2M*6*0*24*2K2M*6*0*24*2K2M2O2P2M*3*0*24*2K2M*6*0*24*2K2M*6*0*24*2K2M*6*0*24*2K2M*5*2O0*24*2K2M*6*0*24*2R2Z*6*0*62*~1,192,896,0,0,Left|73,144,760,%3Cfont%20color%3D%22%23FFFF00%22%3E%3Cfont%20size%3D%2280%22%3EStuffage%2E%3C%2Ffont%3E%3Cfont%20color%3D%22%23FF0000%22%3E%0D%3Cfont%20size%3D%2212%22%3EThere%20is%20an%20%3Ci%3E%3Cu%3Eegg%3C%2Fu%3E%3C%2Fi%3E%20in%20%3Cs%3Emy%3C%2Fs%3E%20soup%2E%20Call%20the%20Porch%20Police%2E%20Eat%20%3Cfont%20color%3D%22%23965A38%22%3Ejail%3C%2Ffont%3E%20for%20lunch%2E%3C%2Ffont%3E%3C%2Ffont%3E|40,144,760,144,872|41,144,816,1,0|42,144,872,0,180|6,1440,544|52,416,880,1|55,584,688,1|51,1008,728,1|56,1392,720,1|82,48,880~18~4~Grape%20Salad%20Monkey

Yeah, it's really cool when you can edit signs like that. Check out my level, "The Conspiracy of Runouw.com" or something. It was entered in the 11th LDC.

That level was really cool AND funny at times! :)
It is often fun placing images on signs, but sometimes when the URL is very long and doesn't fit, it can be very difficult to get it in via editing the code due to the presence of symbols. You would have to replace them with the encoding numbers after pasting, which can be time-consuming.
One time, I gave up on a specific image because the URL was like 12 times longer than the capacity of a sign without code editing. It took forever to replace each symbol.
Could URLs get any longer?

Mr_SaxMan wrote:Instead of replacing each one, take the time to either, A: Command+F for Find, and then replace every symbol in multiples, or take several signs and copy a subsection of the URL in each little box until the whole thing's in the 12 signs. In the code, delete the sign symbol (|9, ?) so all of the text appears in one sign.

Thanks! Well, I already knew of the Find shortcut, though... but still! :)
