I think a warning is too severe. People might not want to enter, judge, or even create an LDC in fear of a warning. What if the hosts computer breaks down for a long time? By the time they get back, they have about 5 warnings? that wouldn't be fair to anyone, because the host would be banned, meaning a staff member would be banned, possibly even demoted. Future hosts wouldn't want to host LDCs in fear of the same happening to them. I think that if the contest drags on for a week after the deadline, then they should automatically be replaced by the secondary host, and so on. I hope you're willing to accept advice from a non-staff member.

I have a suggestion: Don't post something in the LDC topics that "I'm going to join this LDC!" because you can't be sure if you're really gonna join or not. I was like that in the 12th LDC. :awe: Mods, please delete those kind of my posts in the 12th LDC. :troll:

Or we could just leave it the way it is and make it Underground Lake. Avo'd be happy then. :3

So obviously the big problem (or at least one of the big problems) is extensions at this point. I think warnings is a little harsh (only exception: if the user shows much activity on the forums yet next to no progress on their level). But we could of course disqualify users from future activities if they unnecessarily hold the contest up (future LDCs, FoA, Game on Time if Suyo ever comes back to it, etc.)

I also think an Extension Limit should be in order. Two weeks, at most, sound fair. Afterwards--no matter what you're excuse is--you will not be able to participate; the entire contest cannot wait for you. For entrants who have no control over their absence (MOY's power outage, for example), the same rule applies to you (though if something that drastic happens, in no way would you be punished for it). You think real contests will continue to distribute extensions due to your constant excuses, logical or unlogical? Real life just doesn't work that way. If you can get it done, you can. If you can't within the set time limit, then you can't. Also, frankly I'm beginning to question the excuse of being "busy" as a reason for an extension. You are busy with school, homework, other primary activites aside from this one? That's fine, but don't just immediately fall back and expect us to catch you, and don't shun us if we don't.

Not much to say about anything else. The LDCs just aren't as popular as they used to be, and people aren't really motivated into participating, it seems like.

Way to motivate people to join: Give a prize MORE than a picture of a trophy. Maybe a closed beta of Last Legacy, or some kind of map pack for GT. Would be awesome I guess.

One thing that might be cool:

An LLDC (Last Legacy Designer Contest).

LL's LD is better than SM63's (IMO, but that's still debatable) and we could be a little more creative with our levels, mainly because of all the effects we can put in via triggers/switches. Maybe we should swap to LL for a contest or two and see what happens.

We couldn't do that, the designer is still incomplete.

Anyways, I agree with he rules, but also have a suggestion. Instead of open judging like we have been doing, how about we have a closed panel of judges that have been reliable in the past?

I thought a warning was too severe, too. But then I thought, "What else is there? They might not play forum games and they might not like the next LDC's theme..." So I chose warnings. No one in the main topic seemed to have anything against it. Then again, only 3 or 4 different people ever posted in that topic. >_>

Being absent from the forum at the end of a contest is not extending it. You set a deadline, and even though you didn't physically say it ended, it is assumed that it ended because that's what you said the deadline was in the beginning. This is different from saying, "Oh, hey guys. You have two more weeks to make a level."

I totally agree. I WOULD join the 12th LCD, but no, I didn't finish my level in time.
Here's some stuff about me, condensed into a spoiler!: show
Hi. I do level reviews and sometimes I might even draw something. Sometimes I might make a level. Sometimes I might make a level with Nan. But I prefer to pretend the old levels I made when I was like... 15 don't exist. Sometimes I even cook! Sometimes I even cook lobsters. Sometimes, people like the lobsters. Sometimes, I ride horses! 100% of the time, I get paid for helping people ride horses! That's what a job is.

LUGGY'S SUPER AMAZING FAQ!!!!!1
What are you doing right now?: show
Doing a level collab with Nan. And also, a super-secret-exciting project. You'll know what it is when it happens.
Who are you?: show
Hi. I do level reviews and sometimes I might even draw something. Sometimes I might make a l- *shot*
No, seriously, who are you?: show
Luigi Fan 64. I just realized when I stopped being a pubescent sack of malaria that that username is the most generic thing since that chair you're sitting in right now.
Why are you so socially awkward?: show
Well, I'm mildly autistic. No, seriously. It's usually not a problem, though.
Why are you acting like we care about this FAQ?: show
Well, you're the person who didn't scroll down to the next post. So clearly, you care at least a little.

Thanks for not immediately scrolling off. Even though I guess I didn't do much to alter your life in this sig. Meh.
