How to make good reviews

(aka. how to say someone his levels sucks in a good way)

Oh crap. You just played the worst level ever and now you want to tell that guy this levels sucks *****. But you shouldn't do that.

Wrong:
0/20 rofl u sux

Uh... yeah... if you get a review like this... do you know what to do better?
6/20 I didn't really like the level.

See above.
100000000000000/20 ajkdghasf AWESUUUUMNMMMMMMmas poafjpfj

Sarcasm = no.
FUN 0/10 TOO MUCH ENEMIES!
GRAPHICS 0/5 CUTOFF IS BAD!
OTHER 2/5
DON'T SWEAR -1
TOO MUCH ENEMIES -1
FUNNY SIGNS +1
OVERALL 2/20 TRY AGAIN

Saying what's wrong, but - can you read this witout letting your eyes explode? You should format it right. Also the categories are descipted pretty short and the "Too much enemies" point at Other fits in Fun.

Right:
FUN: 1/10
The first platforming part was pretty good, it felt very "Mario-y" and was really challenging. After I passed the Level Transition, I was ready for more platforming - but instead, there was a room filled with so much enemies the framerate dropped on 0.1 frames per second. That ruined it all.

GRAPHICS: 0/5
Totally unfitting background, cutoff and floating bushes, also typos on the signs. The one typo on the third sign made it sound like you're insulting the player. Quoting Suyo: "You can't be seroius with this."

OTHER: 1/5
- swearing on signs
- swearing in levelname
- flaming atheists
+ the joke on the second sign

---OVERALL: 2/20---
You said this is your best level, but I don't think so. You can do that much better. Ignore the idiot above me (NiklawEdit: Hey! >:( ) - I bet everyone has the talent to make good levels if they train enough. Kepp making levels and you'll get better. You could fix so much stuff, like deleting the cutoff by using the appropriate border tiles and not putting masses of enemies there - platforming is often more challenging than a enemy flood. Also, try to use coins at some playes to guide the player - just like in the real Mario games.

YES. This is it. He knows to f*** cutoff and enemy masses now.

So basically, here's how to make a good review:

FIRST UP - FUN.
Ignoring floating bushes, cutoff, the tpyos at the sgins, just play the level. How fun is it? Is it a challenge or just pee-wee? Were there unfair parts? Had the maze missions clues where the right path is?
Give this part up to 10 points and write at least 3 lines why you gave this amount of points. No advices yet.
GRAPHICS ARE COOL.
Now you may look at the floating bushes, cutoff, the tpyos at the sgins and not at the fun. Is there floating lava, do they constantly misspell "ultimate" as "ultimete"? Everything like that comes here. You can get max. 5 points here. Of course, 5 is the perfect graphical appereance, not the worst one. Write again some lines what he did wrong.
NOW FOR THE FINAL POINTS: OTHER.
This is a pretty cool category. You start off with 3 points. For everything bad, you encounter and doesn't fit in FUN or GRAPHICS, substract a point. For everything good, add a point. You can get up to 5 points, but 0 points is the worst. List up what added or substracted points with a + or a - to make it obvious what's good and bad.

OVERALL IS NOT JUST A CLOTHING.
You sum up the whole level again and give advice what to do better. This should be at least 5 lines.

And that's it, that's the secret of a good level. Thank you for your attention, now get out there and review some levels.

This is not a rule how to make reviews, but how they would be good. Since if you write
6/10 nice level but has some flaws
...how the hell should the level creator know what to fix?

Hehe, I know, just gonna do so, add a few more things, and to top it off, I'm gonna change the 5s to 10s.
Then I will average the things like the folllowing:

3/10
Crap crap LD crap...

6/10
More crap...

7/10
Decent.

9/10
Poop.

Overall:
(3+6+7+9)/4=_
6.24/10
Decnt levels, could use work.

Completly made up review, so...

Ehh, I don't like doing it out of 20 points. >_> My format is I list the Pros, give the score out of 10, then list the cons.

Heheh...I think I would just list:
  • Story
  • Fun
  • Graphics
  • Cutoff
  • Average ( (Story+Fun+Graphics+Cutoff)/4*(Newbie Bonus?)=Average )
That would be for a Series.
