As by request, I am going to write up a few sentences that summarise each of the top 3 bronze & silver medalists. Background information, possible inspirations and perhaps a reason why people liked it so much. Terribly sorry if I misunderstood because I unfortunately do seem to have a problem with understanding things exactly how they're meant. :3 I'm also getting better at the analytical bit, so I'm afraid it won't be like a full MoD type review. It'll just be in a few sentences max in MP3-style.
Top 3 bronze medalists:1) Nin10mode's Omniquet!Perhaps the main reason why people voted for this most was because of the traditional Mario feel you had as you played it. You can also see the amount of detail put into this level, yet not to such an extent that it's off-puttingly detailed. By loading the level and looking at where the start position is placed, the rotating the cave blocks give you a feeling of how much care is taken. There must be a reason for them there- maybe to make the graphics improved, to make the fort look slightly factory-like, or just to force Mario into a certain position when you test the level? It doesn't really matter what secrets lie behind the features of the level, but clearly this has captured much attention and Fort Omniquet is now a hit.
2) Fourinone's Bowser's New CastlePossibly the first level in history to use humour in signposts and use it to drive a fun experience as well as a level full of interesting gameplay. My personal opinion for voting this level as one of my top 3 was because its humour and how it sticks to memory. I don't think I will ever forget this level, or there'll always be a feel of déja vu whenever I play it. (in fact, the first time I remember playing it properly, I even had a déja vu then) I will admit Four's graphics weren't top notch, but the story and gameplay rules his levels.
3/4) A Universitas Creaturarum Mirabilis (decided to spell it correctly because why not
) by MP3 Amplifier and Secrets of Earth and Sky by Master1.0!While Universitas and Secrets are rather different from each other, they both share a certain amount of originality and slight innovation. Universitas was a tricky couple of levels to pull off, the mini-block bosses representing night sky figures and the idea of Earth being in danger from natural disasters. It was successful in the end of being believable and inventive at the same time, striking a good balance, which caught most attention I'm pretty sure. As for Secrets, I unfortunately can't remember much about it straight off in my head right now, but my reaction to first playing it was wow. Although the loading time was a bit long, the wait was worth the feast for my eyes. I think the thing that really lit up in my head as this level being brilliant was the tile mixtures, and how innovative the tiling usage was. While my memory seems to have drifted on this level, that is easily the most memorable part for me.
