Hello, all. I wanted to give you a method of having your level reviewed and having the opportunity to try new levels.

The premise is simple. I'll go first and have a level for you to review. Next person puts in a 'placeholder' to review that level, and then reviews it. He can state a level he wants reviewed and that's how it will go on.

Rules!
A placeholder means that you resolve to review the level of a person above you. When you're done reviewing it, edit your post to say you reviewed a level of theirs and which level that is. YOU MAY NOT PLACE ANOTHER PLACEHOLDER UNTIL YOU FINISH YOUR PRIOR ONE.
You have a two day deadline to review the level above you. If you go longer than that, you will receive a null and void on your request, if not already reviewed, and a two day ban from the game if you have already been reviewed.
You may place a level in your post via link to state that is the level you want reviewed. The person below you is not obligated to play that level (or may have already done so) but it is recommended if you can.
If you have a level series/miniseries you want reviewed, the reviewer is only obligated to review one level. They can review more if so wished, and they can review whatever level they're on. For example, if I request Dark, then anyone who hasn't reviewed it can review level one. If they get me again, they can review level two and so on and so forth.
Each review must be at least a paragraph long, or else they will be null/voided and told to do another review.

It's that simple/complicated. Since there's no one above me, I'll start.

Please review any of my levels newer than 2011, please, that you can find. :P

Niveau Victory Galaxy-

The level was good indeed. Challenging, well designed and simplistic at the same time. But not flawless. The secret area, not to secret. It was obvious and the area itself, even though the trivia was intresting (dated now), felt empty. Further more, it took you directly to the end of the level, and it's at the entrance is in the middle way, so you skip a lot of it. A small bug, when the level starts, sometimes I smash to the wall, weird. I fell and die (but I discovered the FLUDD :D). Talking of which, seemed really good. It's a help to bad players (like me) get through the level. Kinda sad that it was put there, since nobody would fail to do that jump, maybe a replacement would be smart. And the FLUDD was helpful, but limitated, since no water or bottles....I think that was brilliant. Not all the plattaforming was great anyways, the ice (not snow) felt a bit weaker than the rest, since the challenges are both annoying and pointless. The Bullet bills part. That was mean. I had to go all the way there, to find a 1-up. Really?
Now, to graphics: well done,MoD. The titling was really good, particularly the cave part. It looked great. I mean great. The snow part, even with a bit of cut-off, looked also great. The decor was...Ok. Nothing TOO great. It fitted where it had to. I liked the "double trees" in the cave section the most. Creative. Again the Ice part was the weakest. It looked empty and out of nowhere. Also, those tall trees in the jungle section looked really good.
Loading time....there was a bit, but nothing serious. In the cave part there was a bit of lag due to the amount of enemies.
SCORES:
Fun: 8.5/10
Graphics: 4.5/5
Other: 3.5/5

Overall: 16.5/20.
Great job, MoD. You did really well.
EDIT:I forgot, sorry. Please review:

Sounds fun.

As for my case, as long as its in the level portal, its up for grabs.

@ Above - Quickie review for Utopia Jungle':
Enjoyment-wise, some of the jumps between rotating blocks got frustrating (mostly in the climb for the 4th), but aside from that, it played out relatively well, and was a good challenge to boot. Most of the obstacles were fairly standard, though, as nothing truly leaped out at me as something unique or noteworthy.

Graphically, it conveys the futuristic jungle setting well, and the variety of trees / rocks and such spice it up nicely. The fact that there is a multitude of wire tiles thrown about seemingly at random isn't likable, though. The blocks were more or less linked to the branches, at least, which made a bit more sense.
Additionally, it would have been nice if you made it more of a hybrid (more metallic-ish ground tiles mixed into the jungle terrain, for example). As it stands, it utilizes only a single type of tile and a single type of moving block despite multiple possibilities being available.
The ground terrain is also a bit too geometrical for a jungle setting as well.
Finally, the eye-ish things, while mixing it up, seem a bit TOO random. Maybe it makes more sense in the context of the series, but I don't follow it.

Nothing else comes to mind beyond that, really. It is certainly a nice red coin hunt, but it needs a bit more spice to make it more of an attention grabber.

@ Below - Not that long, actually. Just needed a lot of experimenting to find the right timing configurations.

As for graphics, though, I question what could have been added to make it better. It is meant to be a simple arena that houses the main attraction in the form of bullets; there's not much reason to focus on the walls at all, which are the only things you can basically see for most of the excursion.
As for 3 lives, it is indeed intentional; it isn't meant to be a cakewalk, and full health would make it too easy to just tank all the fire.

Will do sporadic level reviews on request - PM if interested. I will only do one level at a time. I tend to be rather critical.

Sounds like a fun idea.

Okay Volcove I will review your most recent portal level.
EDIT: And it looks like your most recent portal level is Bullet Hell.

Bullet Hell

How long did it take you to make this? Each round of bullet bills are in perfect sync. And the timing for each round was amazing. The game play was extraordinary for a 25quared level. At times it does get challenging since you start of with three lives. I assume that it was obviously intentional. The graphics were decent. You could use a little bit more variety of tiles since it is a 25quared level. Other than that the level was awesome.

Okay I want somebody else to review Part 1 of Part 1 in my "You Can't Escape Death" level.

Although i've judged You Can't Escape Death, i wouldn't mind giving it a review. Edit: Actually, not the whole series because I've forgotten how long it was. I'll just do the very first level, the dying part. Although it's small I have a lot to say about it.

As for the person below me, they can review the first level of Antichesm, and it is in the portal.

Review for "You Can't Escape Death - Part 1":

So, this level really shocked me when I first loaded it. While it doesn't look really that pretty, the behind the scenes activity is rather astonishing. The tiling is in rather weird shapes, and the blocks are all flying down at you, and a heavy transition shake doesn't prevent the experience. It, for me, was the perfect way to get across a dying method in a level, and it was certainly very inventive. Although at first the transition shake really hurt my eyes, the concept was excellent, and it really got me interested into playing the rest of the series. So I personally think you succeeded very well with this first level. A tiny level, and no shine sprite, and only can Mario die at the end of it. It was really pleasing. Throughout the rest of the series this could've scored highly for me, but the bug check wasn't so efficient. Hopefully you can now improve upon this.

Re: Level Review Tag

Postby KABOOM » August 22nd, 2012, 3:33 pm

Lordpat didn't like my old review for some reason, so now I will try to make it better.

Gameplay-wise, it was quite the fun level. It was a bit easy, except for the part right after the checkpoint with the two moving platforms with a white worm bird thing between them. Of course, it was right after a checkpoint, which was nice. 9/10
Graphically, it looks pretty nice overall. However, close examination reveals a few little niggles. For example, the corners of many snowy slopes were missing. It isn't incredibly obvious at first sight, but if you do see it it's a little hard to unsee. Secondly, while most of the green platforms and moving blocks were placed well, there was a bridge made of falling logs with regular logs at the end, and the falling logs were noticeably lower than the non-falling ones. And I still must ask, what are those white worm bird things supposed to be exactly? 7.5/10
As far as the plot/signs go, I'll say exactly what I said before:
KABOOM wrote:STOP BEING SUCH ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HAPPY SIGNS FFFFFFFFFFF

I have absolutely no clue/10

That goes to a 8.25/10, which I'd say is very good. I think.

Anyways...

Please review The Battle For The Kingdom. If you could give a star rating on the topic as well that would be nice but you don't have to.
