What Are Your Favorite Levels Of All Time?
Haha, this isn't really a competition much, but I will keep a tally for each listed level. Just list your personal favorite levels here, ranked from # to 1st, any amount, any level. Give a short reason if you want, too. ^^
Honorable Mentions
13. Shroomsday by Avo
12. Shyguy Island by Buffooner
11. Into The Depths by Volcove
10. Plastic Beach by Star king
9. An Act of Antichesm by MP3 Amplifier
8. Omniquet by nin10mode
7. Final Rush by 24murph
6. Timpani and Blumiere by SuperMIC
5. Inscius Memorian by BrawlerEX
This level series was direly incomplete but is by far BrawlerEX's best effort. I love this level because the graphics are very gorgeous and unique, the gameplay is Brawler's seamless, unique style even when incomplete, by far the best integration of puzzle, platformer and atmosphere I've seen. It's a great effort and I'm grieved that it was never finished.
4. The Empty Castle by Aznchau4ever
My biggest regret is that I haven't given this level more love. It's always been sort of an inspiration for me; fantastic mood, stellar graphics, subtle yet impactful story and great classic gameplay. Chau has always had a knack for creating convincing set pieces, and it shows seamlessly. I'm very enamored with this work and it was a joy to play.
3. Arid, Arid Desert by fourinone
This level is ingenious. The gameplay is master class, the setting, especially in the tomb is just perfect and consuming, creating a gorgeous, simply executed little world. The story also made me crack up and still makes me laugh every time. This is as close to a simplistically perfect level as it gets, and it shows how with two levels fourinone has proven himself to be one of the greatest designers of all time.
2. Frost Glade by DarkBlaze
This level gets such a high boost for having the best graphics I've ever seen and probably will ever see. This, combined with simple yet elegant gameplay and the best musical backdrop seen yet (DKC2's Forest Interlude used gorgeously) and you have one of my biggest inspirations as a designer and an artist.
1. Explorer Guy and King Goombiard's Ancient Treasure by zebtrestalala
Of course, nothing beats my all time favorite classic. This is an epic if ever there was one. Excellent setting and brilliant atmosphere, awegasmic final boss, versatile, always fun gameplay, a great sense of humor coupled with an urgent, dangerous feel, and sparse yet perfect graphics. Nothing has ever beaten this level since I've played it.
