In fact, maybe if I place JUST ONCE, that'll be it for me.

My problem is the fact that I am highly dedicated to LDing.

If you need encouragement, it was like that in 2009 and 2010, just with different people.
And doesn't it feel all the better when you do win against all odds?

Anyway, everyone is given a choice. Just decide and commit.

If the LDCs go, chances are pretty good that interest in the game itself will fade away soon after, since they serve as the biggest motivating factor.

Whether they have a point or not depends on the person in question. To most, level designing and their contests, just like practically every other hobby, offer a way to unwind and have fun. Maybe spacing them out a bit more is better, although that seems to be happening more and more anyways; contests are now 2-3 months apart when they used to be hosted monthly.

Besides, its also the best way to get any sort of feedback.
Will do sporadic level reviews on request - PM if interested. I will only do one level at a time. I tend to be rather critical.

I personally don't see why everyone is jumping to the conclusion that the LDCs have to go/have a moderate chance of going. I'm fully against removing LDCs, I just think they need a rehaul in their structure to better cater the participants and the judges.

No, it's not the end of discussion. Don't be so arrogant, we can still state our opinions.

To be honest here, I agree with Volcove, but at the same time, I would still make an alternative for LDC's.

This.

Also MoD, the LDCs aren't going because I'll be the first to complain if they do.

I don't think anyone wants LDCs to go,but maybe less often or getting rid of extensions.

That's pretty much the reason why I won't post my levels in this LDC. I need to totally agree there. In fact people started overrating my levels when I stepped with one bad level into the portal, same goes for the first LDC I placed with a level I trully dislike. (Worth a remake to get that out of my mind.)

There are in fact people in the top 6 in nearly every contest who fully deserve that. (Won't name someone or I seem biased too.)
But often I see levels on like the 12th place and think this could have placed into the top 6. Trully could.

Also asked other LDers about their opinion about some levels in the top 6 in the past LDCs.
Cause I kind of respect them and know they are independent. While the judgings mainly show the opinion of the person who tests it, (I don't want to say that single opinions are wrong or bad.) they are sometimes just... inexperienced and it's maybe a better idea to train these things in the portal if someone trully want to judge in a LDC.

Also mainly participating cause it's a nice work I can sometimes do in my spare time. Also trying loads of techniques on runouw I may or may not convert into other Level designers then.

I stumbled a bit around in that post. May rewrite it so everyone understands me. Just ranting a bit. Don't hurt me. Please. :3

"nearly always the same people place"

I'm no expert, but surely from observation that means these people are good at Level Designing. Not joining because "oh no I'm not going to place" is a petty argument and the reality is that if you don't place then your level is not good enough. If you want to get an award then you've got to actually design something worth playing.

As for the same people dragging things along - get rid of extensions. If they haven't got the time to spend on designing, then they shouldn't be doing it. We've had many contents and we will have many more contests. If you don't think you have the time to spend on completing level then don't join the contest. There will be another one.
