If we would always go with this standard, we would have a score in the 18's in every LDC. This may be the highest winning entry in the history of duels on paper, but Tearing Paper and Into the Depths are still the measure of all things. Let me explain and give me an unofficial review for Yuri's level.

The "very annoying place" I've mentioned was due to a bug. For some odd reason the floating platform didn't fall down after I've broken the block.

Fun: 7.5/10. There was a lot of things that worked with the challenges and the difficulty niveau, whereas at some spots it rapidly spiked and you are very likely to die. It's quite hard to dodge all the worms and if you hit one, you get pushed around in a random way you can't control, which means if you're lucky you have a small chance to survive, which is in fact worse than dying for sure after touching a worm. Another inconvenient thing is the setting of the flipping platforms in the first half. The flames in the second part are not always ideally timed, sometimes I have to wait a bit or it's extremely hard to dodge. There are no breathers to cool down, and with the lack of coins this level feels rather Kaizo-ish. Difficulty medium?! That's already pretty hard.

Graphics: 4/5. Graphics are on a very professional niveau but there's a few stuff that could be executed better. At the start, the entire scenery is placed too low, there should be more rows of ground and less background. The indoor parts could be designed with a bit more variety or patterns instead of all pyramid bricks and checkerboard tiles. The quicksand itself looks cool with the dots, but upside-down quicksand doesn't fit in. You're strongest points here are the background tiling, and the decoration of course.

Other: 4/5. +0.75 for the very fitting music, and +0.25 for no lag / a small bit of loading time for the size of this level.

Overall: 15.5/20.

I don't know what happened here. There have been markedly better levels in Runouw history before.

In his defense, those scores do actually look really generous. Remember though, that they're just scores; Sometimes you can't compare levels based on a random assortment of numbers alone. That's why we have WITBLOs isn't it?

When in a contest or a duel, there's a theme that scores are centered around; in this case, what's the better platformer? In duels and contests, we aren't concerned with if it's "better than entrants in previous contests/duels", we're concerned with the entrants of the contest/duel in question.

WITBLOs and portal levels are judged overall, in contrast.

jesus why is he now ♥♥♥♥♥ because the judges really liked his level

if you really are gonna ♥♥♥♥♥ this hard about someone else's success you should have judged it yourself

three people thought his level was really good, and you can't try and retcon that because you didn't like it

Why are you constantly comparing these levels to levels from other LDCs and duels

There is absolutely no reason to do so

We just rated these levels individually

Okay. Looking forward to explaining myself.

I'll again say this: Yurimaster's level was a really fantastic short level, and Nan's had the potential to be fantastic with a little more pizzazz and more graphical improvement.

NanTheDark

Fun: 7.5/10

It felt a little basic in some ways, but as far as the platforming goes, even if it’s relatively unremarkable, it sustains the level and makes it pretty easy to keep going through without feeling impatient. Maybe a little more variety would have been nice, but it was a pleasant playthrough. I’m not saying you need to bring the moon and the stars, but the mechanics were relatively basic, while this level felt like it needed something more. And trust me, as the creator of Echoes of Time, I know when someone’s level doesn’t quite meet their aspirations. :P

Graphics: 3.5/5

Speaking of which, that’s really evident in your graphics. Wow did I not expect to be the harsh judge who ruins peoples’ lives. While some of it was really awesome, good item layering/disabling, and what have you, the overall layout was way too geometric to feel as natural as a nature experience like this should, and the lack of plantlife, like, at all, in some places, was really noticable.

Other: ⅘

+1: I am stealing this music. It’s really good at selling what I feel like you meant for this level to be. I mean, really really good. But you’ve had an eye for that since as long as I can remember.

+.25: The extra Runouwians felt a little gimmicky but were overall pretty fun

-.25 except that one time I found someone and then had to redo an entire part of the level

Overall: 15/20

Two steps away from being really fantastic, but overall pretty decent and nothing to sniff at. I like the idea of a level like this very much, but I don’t feel the execution matched it.

Yurimaster:

Yeah, you won.

Fun: 9.25/10.

Overall very simple, a clever idea not overly embellished but given appropriate focus. The gradual pace you built this up with- introducing the quicksand, then the worms, then the differing functions, was really, really sharp. I think it some instances it didn’t streamline well and the platforming felt like it was inhuman, but for the most part it felt not only excellently done, but professional.

Graphics: 5/5

Yeah, okay, these were pretty much perfect. The layering wasn’t messy, and you established patterns without making it boring. Perfect decoration, perfect graphics, ordered in a very iconic way.

Other: 4/5

+1: Nearly flawless technically, with plenty of clever and unique ideas. The many ways you incorporated the sandworms were consistently fresh and clever, meaning it never felt played out.

-.5 However, there were several parts where I don’t know what human you’re designing for. What kind of people play games over yonder, Yuri? People with the ability to slow time, alter the game, and have twenty-five fingers per hand? Especially when the sandworms were first introduced, I don’t know how I was expected to clear either of those gaps. They were too wide to begin with and then you throw in the sandworms which trap you if you even lay a toe hair on them. ♥♥♥♥ and ♥♥♥♥ us.

+.5 Good music choice. Very good music choice.

Overall: 18.25/20

You’re continuing your winning streak pretty damn well. Winning duels, LDCs, awards, mini-LDCs. As far as I am concerned, you’ve officially graduated to modern legend, especially with a level made offhand for a duel that surpasses most levels I’ve played in years. I hope 2015 continues to be a renaissance because between you, Star king, and the portal, we’re on the right track.

Simple reason: Because Sandworm Domain isn't as good as its score would tell. (and apart from that, rude wording from you once again)
Comparisons maybe aren't adequate anymore if you go back to 2009, but since about 2011 we're constantly more or less at the same judging level.

If I say that it doesn't come by chance. Those results are simply odd, in fact they're so odd that I can't get around raising my voice. It's a solid pure platformer level. Why does it score so high from all of a sudden? Why is there a discrepancy of more than 2 full points?

obviously critical voices are not welcome at all no matter how much experience they have
