Sling Star Help

Postby triforceguy1 » May 29th, 2010, 5:04 am

Hey,

I've been using the sling stars quite a lot in my new level but I'm always testing the level over and over again whenever I put a new one in. Does anyone have any tips to accurately predict where you will end up after going through a sling star?

Thanks
Leon

Just move Mario over the sling star every time you place a new one. You can then test it. Other than that, there is no way to tell without playing the level.

Well, if you have a protractor on hand then that will help you guide through the angles. But what I do is just make an estimation. I'll play with the speed a little to make him go farther, and shrink the speed to make him go a little less farther. The angle plays a great part, so I usually put it at 45* so that he will shoot a great distance.

Hey, you will go though the sling star, usually, unless you use the x to reduce the speed first, then use x to go in.
Don't for get you can use negative number, and, 45o can be 135o. So that mario will change his direadtion of his head, but not the direaction of the places.

That's the original reason why I made the Level Code Documentation. I wanted to make a stand-alone Leevl Designer which features like showing the track of a sling star flight...

So... how did you test? Without playing the level and use the wordpad to change your.....your slings star?

If you set your sling star spped fewer, it will easier to make, but they will mess up, usually, because you've too less place.
