If you know what you're doing while messing with the code, your level should be fine. Try looking through this topic to be safer (such as the first page.).

You don't even need to mess with the code to make a good bloss. All of mine were almost entirely made withing the level designer, with slight exceptions being made for things like faster rotation.

To answer your question, though, I think you just add a 0 in front of the ID of the item you want to disable. For example, I think a shine sprite is ID value 6, just slap a zero in front of that to get 06. Always make a backup of your code first though, just in case something corrupts.

Wouldn't that be tedious? Wouldn't it be a faster way to copy all the codes of the blocks you want to be identical?

It's definitely tedious, but usually it's the only way to accurately get things like block placement down, and tweak thing quickly. My bosses usually tear from version 1 to version 17 in under an hour, it's a lot easier (in my opinion) to only mess with things that can't be edited in the designer. Things like super fast speeds, negative values, that sort of thing.

Do you know these levels that start with grass and then a cave appears from nothing? With the same goddamn mountain background? Or these levels people planned this so they put secret course background or the black one? Now you don't need do this!

See the cave section? The black background is the border of a veeeeery big block with less colision, in this case the block N° 31, with 9999 of size, it can be bigger, but this is just an example. You can make a block N° 25 with 25000 of size, or a block 26° with 100000 of size, but the last one is only for huge caves, or it will look ugly.

Random person: But Yuri, I can't move the block around after I placed it ;_;

Me: As for this, here's a hint: Make the cave according to wherever you placed the block. Or in other words, extend and reduce the level limits until you have your cave background in the desired place. So don't use it in huge levels without planning first, it will end up messing your level rather than helping it.

Feel free to use it for caves, dungeons, castles, or even night backgrounds. Open your mind too! There are lots of uses you can discover for it.

EDIT: No one is probably even looking at this, but I fixed some horrible grammar errors :p

Oh wow, that's interesting.

Funnily enough I always got annoyed by those blocks for the same reason. But now there's actually a purpose for it, it feels quite nice.

However, the only problem is that once again, (and I experienced this in Science War) when you hugely resize the block, it's hard to move around, and therefore you need to use the code to move it around a lot of the time which I find frustrating.
