Coin Challenge

What is the maximum number of coins you can own by the end of a level? After raiding the Mush Room, I played Peach's Garden and finished with 850. I'm certain other people can beat me. (Note that coins don't carry over into standard levels.)

Post your best (or post some sort of proof of a maximum.)

Why don't you just make a level with a whole bunch of coins in it? (spread the coins out transitions to reduce lag)

Uh, no. The object is to get the most coins from the actual game. How many can you get?

Really, 3? XD I know I missed a few coins in the Mush Room, and there are four in the main room and 100 more in one of the side rooms in a block, so 960 or so are possible using the path I took. I can't think of where else to find them, or what course would be better than Daisey's Garden. Maybe the hidden one above the door in the main room - I think that one had a bunch of blue and yellow coins in it.

A even better challenge would be to clear the game with as few coins as possible :P

I don't even pay attention to coins in the game.

And in the level designer because they don't do anything.

Well except replenish your health I guess.
