I challenge anybody who dares to accept to a

SPEED RUN

in Super Mario 63.

Rules

  • You must get all 64 shine sprites and star coins (starting from zero of each).
  • You cannot hack nor use the toggle/unlock everything cheat function to do so, but you can take advantage of glitches to help you. However, you must beat all three Bowsers.
  • The videos do not count towards your time. If you want to watch them, be sure to stop your time.
  • You obviously do not have to play non-stop. Be sure to stop your time when you take a break. Also, the short video after Bowser 3 and the credits don't count towards your time.
  • I'm going to trust you not to lie about your time.
  • When you finish, do not post your time. Instead, just PM me with your time. That way, people who take longer to finish (due to other obligations) don't have any ideas about how everybody else is doing and therefore are less likely to cheat.

If you wish to partake, PM me and I'll put your name in. As soon as you see your name on the list, you can begin. There is no deadline to sign up; this will be open until there are ten participants. There is a limit of ten people. Please do not sign up if you don't think you can complete the game within two to three weeks. If you have any questions, let me know.

Participants

1. marioiscool254
2. Buffooner
3. aznchau4ever
4. Zunar
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

I'd enter, but I don't think I have enough time. Anyway, contestants should have to submit a video. (I know on a mac its easy with photobooth, im sure theres something similar for windows).

How long would you say a speed run would take, on average? I might join, but chances are, I will not, due to the sheer time. :X

I'm not expecting people to finish for at least a few weeks. Remember, you don't have to play non-stop.

I mean how many hours would it take in total. I know I can take breaks, but I just want to know how much of my time I would have to put aside to do this.

Bah, I shouldn't be talking; I beat the game 64/64 AND found both the "To Bowser's First Trap" shortcut and the Sun shortcut in two and a half days. <_<

As of an old speed run I did, it takes perhaps a little less than three hours of play time. That, of course, depends on how good you are…

Yeahh, I just started a new game and played halfway through, in about... an hour or so, so It's okay. I'm gonna play it a couple times through before I time myself, :D I think I'm going to record this on video for legit proof, half because I think its better to have proof, and half because I just want to haha.

Why not time ourselves per level, i.e. I can do Cool Cool Mountain Star 3 in 45.96 seconds!

That's a lot of effort…a lot of timing…a lot to keep track of. I think timing the amount of time it takes you to complete the game is easier…one time, less to manage. And remember, you don't have to play non-stop.
