Some of the features of true Mario games were changed in such a way that was entirely unnecessary in this game (such as Metal Mario being vulnerable to attacks).=Thats like ONE THING, and it makes no sense in-game. I say: Very true.

Features like the FLUDD and the Wing Cap were made fairly well, but they also had some issues. Sometimes, if you're in a level with a FLUDD and you die someplace, you return to the same area and you still have the water pump with you. Other times, it's suddenly gone from your back and there's no getting it again.=This guy has a cr*ppy computer or something. I say: He DEFINATLY must have a cr*ppy CPU CR*PPY I SAY.

Then there are those stars that give you invincibility, invisibility, the Wing Cap, along with the Silver Stars that can get you Shine Sprites. All of these stars look exactly the same. There's almost no way of knowing what you're getting next, which of course helps a WHOLE lot in the slapped-together level designs.=He MUST be colorblind. Indeed. Silver Stars: Silver. Wing Stars: White. Metal Stars: Grey. Invinci Stars: Multicoloured. Invisi Stars: Same as Invinci but transparent

Most of the levels are just a barrage of platforms that move in circles, followed by enemies that are so ridiculously inconveniently placed, you MUST get hurt before continuing a part of the stage--no option.=Well, every level in every game has platforms- Hurr Durr! Well, it's not like he can make a better game.

There are "secrets" all through the castle that for the most part you just have to find by accident, and they just lead to more shoddily-designed levels.=There IS skill in finding these! Yeah, like finding the secret way to the final boss.

You can't possibly expect someone to get half of those Star Coins without Mario committing suicide in the process seeing as they're usually at the bottom of death cliffs.=True... But you do have fludd. True, but that time you may not have fludd, but you can go back.

There are too many glitches in this game for me to even name, and some of them I can't even tell if they were really 'intended' to be viewed as glitches or not.=Again, every game has glitches. You said it, ill say it: Hurr Durr!

Any time I lose some life, I find myself collecting coins and nothing happens. It's like there's a certain number of coins, or maybe a time limit, before you can refill any of your health.=He wasn't paying attention in the part where it explained how to refill health. It's obvious if it was 1 coin to get 1 life, enemies could never kill you.

I had to restart the beginning of the game multiple times because one of the flying Goonies was randomly placed directly underneath Mario, which moved him aside and ended up freezing Mario's movements completely, since it wasn't intended for him to move until he went to read the first sign.=He has the worst luck in the world. Yup.

I also experienced a crazy glitch on the first Bowser where he got thrown BACKWARDS into a spike-bomb and his 'hurt' sequence looped off the edge of the screen over and over. I had to kill poor Mario to continue.=This happened to me too, but it was fixed in the next update. Again, bad comp. Yes, it happened to me a few times as well on the SECOND Bowser.

Then there is a level with an invisibility star that does not end. I couldn't tell if that was supposed to happen or not, but it took a very long time to beat the level. Musical fanfares such as those when you exit a painting or activate some switch don't always stop the music playing in the background, which makes all the sound clash together.=Runouw mentioned about this, so this guy should be prepared for it.Everyone but the bad critque knows that.

Another thing that irks me is the storyline twist after the second Bowser battle. It's enough to have a cliche "the whole world will be destroyed by an item of power", but you even made up some out-of-place Japanese thing CALLED "The Orb of Power," and of course everything will be destroyed except Bowser's castle, which has a happy force field around it. Bowser is not the type to destroy an entire universe. He'd take it over like he tried to do in Super Mario Galaxy.=Just didn't finish the game. He had to finish it. I know what it's like.

Other things, like the techno Bowser stage music, the total lack of clarity in the way things are explained, the many problems with the basic controls, how much the World Maps don't help, the 4chan memes and references mentioned by all the Toads in a game that's already a giant parody... I could go on and on simply with the 13 Shine Sprites I obtained. But I seem to be running out of room for much more of a rant.=What lack of clarity? Uh-huh! That's so true!

So that's my review of a review.

I'll admit, the 4chan references were a bit annoying. But 13 shines out of 64 isn't much to go on. Sonicfan253: right.

So that's my review of a review of a review.

Some of the features of true Mario games were changed in such a way that was entirely unnecessary in this game (such as Metal Mario being vulnerable to attacks).=Thats like ONE THING, and it makes no sense in-game. I say: Very true. That is a specific thing critics love to point out, but I agree with GM and SS. Sonicfan253: so what?

Features like the FLUDD and the Wing Cap were made fairly well, but they also had some issues. Sometimes, if you're in a level with a FLUDD and you die someplace, you return to the same area and you still have the water pump with you. Other times, it's suddenly gone from your back and there's no getting it again.=This guy has a cr*ppy computer or something. I say: He DEFINATLY must have a cr*ppy CPU CR*PPY I SAY.Crappy isn't a filtered word. On-topic, crappy computers wouldn't cause that. It's just a glitch, but a very rare one, though. I would love to see how frequent this showed up for him. Sonicfan253: crappy computer....

Invisi Stars: Same as Invinci but transparent Honestly, I did have a problem depicting some of the stars apart, especially the Wing Cap and the Silver Stars. Sonicfan253: i have also had this problem

It would be difficult to make a game with platforms as well designed as Runouw made them, but I can understand a bit. Sonicfan253: barrage of platforms that move in circles? DUDE SHUT UP AND COMPLETE THE GAME!!!

There are "secrets" all through the castle that for the most part you just have to find by accident, and they just lead to more shoddily-designed levels.=There IS skill in finding these! Yeah, like finding the secret way to the final boss. It's not an accident for finding some - it's careful observation. Although I found some by accident, I could see the cleverness behind them. Sonicfan253: I found secrets on perpose and the levels aren`t shoddy....hmmm...you making me think you quit after the third level......

You can't possibly expect someone to get half of those Star Coins without Mario committing suicide in the process seeing as they're usually at the bottom of death cliffs.=True... But you do have fludd. True, but that time you may not have fludd, but you can go back. I only remember one star coin which was a major hazard to get. Sonicfan253: no, starcoins are not hard. I got 20 or thirty by the time i beat the first bowser

There are too many glitches in this game for me to even name, and some of them I can't even tell if they were really 'intended' to be viewed as glitches or not.=Again, every game has glitches. You said it, ill say it: Hurr Durr! Some more than others, but this game isn't filled with glitches. Sonicfan253: another critics complaint....i have never experinced any glitches.

There's no excuse for the stupidity of JoBro's remark, and yes SuperSponge, you got it. Sonicfan253: errr....yeah....not paying attention

I had to restart the beginning of the game multiple times because one of the flying Goonies was randomly placed directly underneath Mario, which moved him aside and ended up freezing Mario's movements completely, since it wasn't intended for him to move until he went to read the first sign.=He has the worst luck in the world. Yup. Okay, maybe his computer is a little... out-of-date. Sonicfan253: DURRR! needs an update...

Maybe the review is so poor because he is using the wrong version. Sonicfan253: on youtube i have seen a million videos of this glitch. Use the right version....

This guy isn't part of the site, though, so he wouldn't know about this. Sonicfan253:
germanity wrote: This guy isn't part of the site, though, so he wouldn't know about this.
true...

Okay, this topic is getting a bit spammy. Can we get back to the main topic here? :)

Anyways, this guy doesn't mean no harm, in my opinion. There is always going to be a harsh critic rating an awesome game, no matter how perfect the game may be. You just have to learn to except that, and move on. This guy found bad spots in a game, and like any harsh critic, he points out all the bad things, and none of the good things. But...someone has to. At least he was honest. If he didn't want to finish the game because he thought it was that bad, fine with me. That's his loss.

Yeah that's true.

Every game needs a serious critic. Not somebody who goes:

[idiotperson] OMG I LOVE THIS GAME! IT'S PERFECT![/idiotperson]
