MASSIVE shortcut in Cave of Empuzzlement

This shortcut eliminates the first two-thirds of the Cave of Empuzzlement.

As most people know, the Cave of Empuzzlement is found by ground-pounding below a cloud painting in the top room (where TTM and LLL are found). To complete it, you need to use water switches similar to the ones in Wet-Dry World, and get the level low enough to break a orange block. So here's what you do:

WARNING: SPOILERS

1. Go to the orange block you need to break.
2. Stand slightly to the right of it, so you are tilted left.
3. Spin

This pretty much breaks it.

Wow. I think we really didn't knew this before, at least searching the word "empuzzlement" doesn't tell so.

Congratz.

Oh yeah, that trick. I thought I was the only one who knew it, but I never actually considered sharing the discovery myself (it didn't feel noteworthy at the time).

Nice find, though!

Pausing the game before shooting up enables you to shoot up twice?

this is a rather disreputable cheat ... I mean, speedrunning is nice and such, but skipping entire sections of a stage by using such tricks isn't nice.

I mean, it also pertains to many other sections of the game (e.g. in Bowser's Castle), and there are also many levels on the LDP which highly base on using Rocket FLUDD. So I'd say about LDing, we just go on like before and don't care about this trick.

That's an interesting answer.

For speedrunning, the glitches I showed in this video is not a cheat, because this glitch is in the game and we do not use any external program to perform it, so we are allowed to use it unless the rules say that this glitch's not allowed.
Our goal, in any% for example, is to finish the game as quicly possible without using cheats (glitches are allowed). So in Bowser Trap #3, using the double rocket glitch, we can skip an entire section of the level.

This is debatable, and it's only a matter of opinion. In speedrunning, in most of the games, there's a "glitchless" category where this kind of glitches aren't allowed. Right now there isn't one in SM63 since there aren't a lot of useful glitches/nobody is really interested by that at the moment.

But yeah, for the LDing, you guys should definitely not care about this glitch and make your levels like you did before. I really agree with that point.
