Bullet Heaven

Postby GalaxyMario » April 4th, 2011, 8:17 am

Play it here!

Bullet Heaven is a spinoff of the awesome Epic Battle Fantasy series, with the same characters. It's a shooter that's in the vein of Touhou and the like, featuring 5 playable characters.

I beat it. Just need to get S rank on every level. :3 (I'm over half way there)
It's actually not that hard IMO. Hundreds of bullets on-screen. You only need to dodge a few of them, and it's not hard as long as you keep your eye on the character)

Edit: I take that back....third bonus level is a ♥♥♥♥♥ even when fully upgraded. I can't even beat it let alone get S rank. Aw well. *keeps trying*
Edit2: I beat it...and got D rank. :o_O:

Er...that's like saying, "Here's a hundred bullets. Feel free to squeeze between that little narrow space in between any two of them! :awe: " It's not really how many bullets, but how little space they give you to move around. But maybe I just suck.

After getting my arse kicked by Level 16 for way too long, I'm stuck on Level 18 now. I've not even seen the miniboss yet. :o_O: So yeah, no clue what to do now.

Which character and control scheme are you using? I use almost exclusively No Legs and keyboard, because No Legs is a beast and the mouse, well, is just terrible (for me, anyways).

What I'm saying is don't fret about the amount of bullets on screen when, in fact, the only ones you need to dodge are the ones heading directly at you. I'll admit it gets hectic come levels 16-20, but my main strategy is to
a) ALWAYS keep your eye on the character when there's a ton of bullets heading for you. And keep the shoot button going.
b)Move slowly. Remember, your hitbox is only one sprite. Essentially the hitbox can also be counted as your mouse when the character rests on it, so try and move focusing on dodging with your mouse, which is easier the slower you move.

I dunno, maybe you do suck. :troll:

As said, I use the mouse. It's just easier for me. Also, my main guy is Matt, but my primary method is to switch it up if I notice that one guy isn't doing so well in a level.

Alright, so I took your advice and used the mouse. Turns out, HOLY CRAP THIS GAME IS SO MUCH EASIER NOW. I was weaving back and forth through bullets like a madman, and passed that level I was stuck on for a while with flying colors, getting an A rank the first time I beat it. Dang.

Heh, just beat the final boss on my second try with an S rank. :3 Holy frick I love the mouse.

Yeah, I got everyone, but No Legs will always be my main man. Primary attack is a spread shot, so you can focus on dodging rather than aiming. Secondary attack is an excellent screen sweeper, plus it can hit enemies to the side of you (you can totally cheese those tanks in the later levels with it), AND you can focus it for a single powerful shot. Very versatile guy, as you can see. The problem with the other guys is that their primary shots don't cover enough area, and doesn't do enough damage to make up for it. The only other character I can stand is Natalie, because her secondary attack is a good sweeper that can hit behind you, but that's it. The worst has to be Lance; seriously, the guy has nothing going for him.

Going mano a mano with the final bonus boss right now. :3 Dying for the umpteenth time at the very last phase. Writing sentences without subjects. Be back when I fry this goon...

I think you can take back what you said about me sucking, Blab. :awe:

Yeah, I changed my mind. I've realized that Matt sucks many times more than Lance. I had trouble getting S rank on Level 2 with Matt. :o_O: Lance at least has that spread shot when he picks up the golden sword, so he's a bit better in the earlier levels when those are more common. And you're right; Anna is actually pretty good, I've found out. Her secondary is excellent for clearing out small enemies since it covers a wide range, but my problem with her is that she doesn't have a "true" secondary that wipes out enemies in a pinch, which would be helpful against big enemies. So yeah, she's kind of specialized: better than No Legs in standard small enemy waves, but not as versatile.

Also, anyone know a good place to get killed? (I need da 666 bullets medal. :X)

Also also, barn, do you have a Newgrounds account?
