I'd like to help out with this. I've never done programming itself before, but I'm good with designing worlds, levels, and concepts. I'm also not very good in the music or art department, but I can design levels well. I've always wanted to make or at least help with making a game before and I'm glad to put in some effort. Also, Summer Break is coming up so I'll have lots of free time to do stuff.

I feel like as someone who wants to become a video game developer someday, I should definitely keep an eye out for how this thread is going, and maybe help out if I can.

Now I probably won't have much involvement in this, given that my university is brutal and I've lots of plans for my holiday as well. But where game design is mentioned, it's very likely I will be interested. So if you guys don't mind, I'll try to give my share of opinions, ideas and perhaps even advice if any area I'm somewhat knowledge at is involved.

As a current computer science student, I've learned some Java and C from university. I know a bit about HTML, Javascript, and Python. I can do some simple sketches, but no experience in animation and drawing software. I also have a bit of knowledge on music (mainly theory and reading sheet music). Probably a wishy-washy set of skills, but I'll see if I can help. :)

Definitely check out the Discord chat. This project has been a little quiet lately, but that's where most of the action has been going on when it does. (Plus you can use the other normal chat channels too. :p )

Currently I'm in the last week or so of high school exams. I haven't given up at all, this just isn't my immediate priority.

But yeah, you're gonna want go use our Discord channel. It's pretty much where all the discussion takes place.

alright so let's come up with some specific ideas. brainstorm. anything at all, we just need to get down to more than just vague ideas of genres that none of us can agree on

In year 21XX, there are only two nations remain on Earth:

The socialist superpower of Notos Federation, who claims the remaining lands.

A pair of fraternal twins were born in neutral Switzerland, just before the Union invaded it.
One left for the Federate with his mother, the other left for the Union with her father.

The twins grew to become geniuses, one leading in economics and robotics, another leading in medical science and biology. One became the leader of the Union's most power robot company, the other became the head of the Federation's Central Research Facility.

When their age hit 40, a war was declared by both nations due to the Earth's resources drying up. The victor will annex the loser.
Both twins face the clash of ideals. Through their mother and father, they were able to seize a chance to meet at an underwater safe haven located on the seafloor of the Pacifics.
They, too, had a clash of ideals...
Whoever lost would destroy their nation from within...

The player will be choosing a side at the beginning. Depending on the side he/she picked, the story will feel different to him/her.
Whoever the player picked, the story focuses on one of the twin's interactions with the surrounding people. The stronger interactions such as fears and arguments will be displayed in a sense of "engaging battle".
The opponent is metaphorized into a different person, or even a different creature, to show how he/she is in the twin's mind.
The battles run on the Platforming Battle System I mentioned before.
The battles show the twin's fight in society.

I kinda have it planned out a bit, basically you die once you are hit 10 times or take a set amount of damage you attack using certain weapons depending on your class. the classes include Archer, Mage, Demolitionist and Warrior. Archer and mage are long range and can use weapons like triple shot and Bounce beam. warrior is a close up melee class you attack through swords. Demolitionist throws bombs and plants mines.the bombs explode upon impact but if the don't hit anything the explode after 2 secs

Ranger weapons - Single shot, Triple shot. Rapid fire, explosive shot
Mage Weapons - fireball, Bounce Beam, lightning blast, and aqua wave
Demolitionist - Bombs, mines, grenades, and suicide bomber mode
Warrior - will wield different types of swords

your starter weapons are single shot, fireball, bombs and a basic sword, you get the other weapons from weapon crates (NOTE: you can only get items for your class)the weapons are not consumable you can simply get different weapons from crates after the one your using uses all its uses. all weapons can break except starter weapons and you can only hold one at a time

in single-player waves of enemies would attack and at the end of every level so to speak there would be a mini-boss or something and after enough levels a single boss monster would come.

but I'm think that your character will have 10 health to start and you can get more through power ups. Your character can also pick up SP orbs dropped from enemies, the SP orbs will fill up your Power bar. Once your Power bar is full you can unleash a powerful attack

Ranger will have a ballistae blaster where you quickly make a ballistea and can shoot ballisae bolts for a few seconds
Mage will have the black hole spell which will suck mobs into and deal damage to mobs inside it for a period of time, mobs that are not dead will be spit out when it ends Demolitionist will have Mini- Nuke a bomb that deals lots of damage to a certain area
Warrior will have sword storm, it rains swords down across the battle field or in a specific area
you will also have a helper power-up, your helper is a skeleton trained in the dark arts. I f necessary he will sacrifice himself to save you

also if I didn't mention this the screen or stage will be fixed in place kinda like the first Zelda games but there will only be 1 screen kinda like journey of prairie king (if you've ever played Stardew valley) but with only 3 opening for mobs to come through (one on each side) and you spawn where the fourth would be

I don't know what kind of music you guys want for this, but I could try composing some piano music for the soundtrack. I don't have much experience composing, but I can certainly try.
