The poll is to help us decide what type of game we want to make. So yeah, it only really applies to those working on it.

the poll is closed and here are the votes.

1st Place - A tie between platformer and a mix

2nd Place - Another tie between RPG and point and click

3rd Place - Yet another tie between Arcade Style game and Other

Since no one specified what kind of mix of genres they wanted, The winner is platformer!

Edit: it will probably be a platformer mixed with something else

Upcoming: Nominations for plot of the game

In that case we're basically making a platformer but with a couple of creative twists. Works for me :3

I really don't get what genre Point and Click and Arcade were supposed to be tbh. PnC I could easily either write off as a visual novel, RPG or Adventure and Arcade says nothing (maybe linearity/score attack). Well Platformer sounds pretty simple, easily mixable with many genres I'd say.

But yeah, for next time Strawpoll seems like a better idea to me. You can't doublevote, anyone can check the results whenever.

For plots, anyone having any ideas? What should the options even be? Should they be genres like games were (Mystery, Romance (read: Rescue princess or something)) or maybe starts to a story?

Personally I think the story shouldn't force itself onto the action too much, though I think there should be a stronger drive to the plot than "get/rescue [insert item/person here]". Maybe something like Shovel Knight in terms of story (though maybe a little more involved still?)

For the platforming/RPG cross, I'll propose a battle system with concept arts attached this Sunday.
