So, yeah, I'll start. I'm seeing both Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton together in concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday night. If you don't know, Beck and Clapton are two of the greatest guitarists of all time (Clapton is my favorite of all time). Clapton achieved minor success in the early to mid sixties as a member of the Yardbirds, but left the group just as it started to become famous. He then became part of the rock trio Cream, which achieved huge international success. He later was part of brief stints with Blind Faith, Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, and Derek and the Dominoes, yielding such great songs as, "Layla," "Presence of the Lord," "Bell Bottom Blues," and others, before embarking on a hugely successful solo career. He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times, as a member of the Yardbirds, Cream, and as a solo artist. Jeff Beck, whose roots were in jazz as opposed to Clapton, who drew his inspiration from the blues, first achieved success as Clapton's replacement in the Yardbirds before embarking on an extensive solo career in which he collaborated with other great musicians including Rod Stewart. Though his music was less mainstream, he still is considered one of the most influential rock guitarists of all time.
Hmm…sort of got long-winded there. Anyway, I'm really excited.
So, talk peoples!
