WARNING. After looking at this list again, I realize that it is highly inaccurate and just awful. Characters like Mion deserve to be higher on the list. I could have been more specific when talking about the Angel Beats characters, and Taishi doesn't even deserve to be on here. This is just inaccurate.

EDIT: Y'know what? No. Y'all don't deserve to see my ♥♥♥♥ list. (LOLOLOL IT'S FUNNY CUZ USUALLY PEOPLE SAY HIT LIST)

(I doubt anyone is gonna see this...)

AIN'T NO MOUNTAIN HIIIIIIIIGH ENOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUGH

Lulz, close enough. :P

1 Rika Furude(Higurashi no naku koro ni)
You're cute as hell. You're a shrine maiden. You lived through 100+ years of the same worlds over and over to find a way. You're split personalities have their own like-able traits. You can switch from cute to serious and an instant.

Nipah~

2 Kyoko Sakura(Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica)
Well, first thing's first. Your color is red. Freaking red. You automatically deserve at least top 30. Now, you have a bottomless stomach and you still look freaking awesome.

In all seriousness, I liked the sacrifices you made for Sayaka. (You also rocked in Oriko Magica, though that's a manga)

3 Shion Sonozaki (Higurashi no naku koro ni)
The most psychotic killer in the whole title. Most people would really hate you, but you're reasons for your actions back you up. I pity you, in a loving way.

4 Homura Akemi (Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica)
A magical girl. That fights witches. WITH GUNS AND EXPLOSIVES.
But really, I admire the fact that you went through so many worlds to save your only friend. Your willpower is amazing.

5 Elsie (The World God Only Knows)
You're my comic relief character. :P Not much else to say.

6 Taiga Aisaka (Toradora)
Tsundere's are always pretty fun. I like it when you take the extremes to accomplish something(*poolepisodecough*) and I especially like it when you care about Ryuji (snowscene, poolscene, etc.) The way you were in the last half of Toradora was really lovable.

7 Yuki Nagato (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)
Emotionless, straightforward, alien-parameters.
I loved you most during the movie, though.

8 Ayumi Takahara (The World God Only Knows)
Don't love you as much as a girl as I do of a develpoing character. You're the only one that still seems to give a ♥♥♥♥ about Katsuragi.

9 Shiori Shiomiya (The World God Only Knows)
First anime character that got me to laugh without any speech. Also, librarians ftw.

10 Battler Ushiromiya (Umineko no naku koro ni)
Damn. You're ignorant, hardheaded, and a complete pervert. You're lucky you're that you're like an anime version of Phoenix Wright.

DAME DA!

Oooh, Studio Ghibli. I approve, I approve. Most of the ones I watched, I had watched when I was younger, so I don't remember as detailed, but I've watched a fair amount of Hayao Miyazaki's works.

As for Nin's list, Shion, yes. Shion, so much yes. She may have become ♥♥♥♥ insane, but I still love her character. It's an interesting and mature character. But also, WHAT. YOU DON'T HAVE KANON? KANONxKEIMA ALL THE WAY.

Anyways, Avo, your list is so organized lol. You should really finish Avatar. I think the second season was probably some of the greatest stuff ever made, especially for a "kids" show. Konata. Lol that picture is a reference from Code Geass, I never knew. And bro, it's fine to pick the same character for different ranks, it's not like each person has to be from a different anime. :P

It didn't feel right for me to choose two characters from the same anime, I wanted to mix it up. Y'know? :troll:

So I was trying to think of how I was going to do this. It was very difficult to put together a list, but finally I put it together. Now, before you say anything, yes, I know this is a giant chickfest, so I'll say that I have a slight bias towards look, but hey, I'm a guy. :P

10. Kallen Stadtfeld ~ Code Geass

At first glance, I really thought that I would pick C.C. But then I thought a little about it, then I realized how much I like Kallen Stadtfeld. This girl who had a choice to live in comfort or live in freedom, and she chose the latter. She has this sort of fire in her spirit that really amazes me at times, she is the ace of the Black Knights. Even in the end of R2, you can’t really see her as the “enemy,” she’s simply someone who will do anything for her cause, to see the world free of Britannian clutches.

So Kallen Stadtfeld, you get placed as #10 in my top favorite characters. It was really quite difficult to decide who deserves the last spot on the list.

9. Masakaki~ C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control

Masakaki was definitely a strange choice to be put on any favorite character list. In a sense, Masakaki reminds me of Kyuubey from Puella Magi Madoka Magica in that he raises the question of, was he really a bad guy?

And in both cases, my answer, I believe, was no. That still doesn’t mean I don’t want to choke the life out of Kyuubey though. The thing with both of them is that they have this very interesting personality, as observers. In Masakaki’s view, he is simply a messenger, but oh what a messenger he is. He’s a very entertaining character even though at a second glance, he really doesn’t care about the outcome, he simply watches for entertainment. A sort of bridge between the present obsessed Souichirou and the future boy Kimimaro.

So Masakaki. For your insane apparel, your even more insane personality, and your seemingly “meh” view at the outcome, I give you #9 of the list.

8. Sakagami Tomoyo ~ Clannad

I was always a TomoyoxTomoya fan. But of course, it was inevitable that Tomoya and Nagisa would end up together, it’s a sort of mutual help you help me relationship that just works. But for me, Tomoyo was that important person.

For nonconfusion purposes I’ll address Tomoya as Okazaki. For those who’ve watched the OVA with Tomoyo chapter, or played the Visual Novel (I did both :D) Tomoyo’s story was, I think a very well made setting. I think it was the fact that Tomoyo truly loved Okazaki, to the point that she’d give up her future for him. But of course, Okazaki cared too much for Tomoyo. It was that fact that Okazaki knew he needed to sacrifice their relationship, because he cared for Tomoyo too much. I think that sacrifice was what really drew me.

Tomoyo has this sort of mature and protective personality that really makes her impossible to dislike. Her and Sunohara’s witty trade-offs were probably some of the funniest moments in the show, and, Jesus just look at her, she’s freaking amazing.

So Tomoyo gets #8 on the list, although really, at this point, I sort of can say that the numbers don’t really matter, it’s too difficult for me to decide who really fits, so I think that 4-8 sort of are all the same rank.

7. Eucliwood Hellscythe ~ Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka?

On a scale of 1 to Badass, how high would you rank Eucliwood? You wouldn’t because the moment she spoke, the world would change for her needs.

I think every character in Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka was extremely interesting and original. But out of all of them, Eu stands at the top, as a necromancer of the underworld. She has this very stoic personality, which seems cliché but really just adds on to her fascinating background.

In many animes, when there’s a male/female lead, usually one or the other will be week and make the other one protect them. Oh no, not even close in Zombie. In Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka, both Ayumu and Eucliwood just sort of dominate the badass scales.

Eucliwood gets a #7, but really, she pretty much outranks anyone. I mean, who else can murder a person just by saying the words?

6. Celty Sturluson ~ Durarara!!

The interesting thing about Celty Sturluson is that… Well… She kinda doesn’t have a head. No, seriously, she doesn’t have a head. I think, and I feel like I’m going to start saying this a lot, that Durarara!! Is full of fascinating characters. Celty is this very original character, and I really enjoy her.

I think the reason why she’s so interesting is that because, if you ignore the epic scythe and the fact that she has no head, you start to see her as something else. A woman. Through the series you really realize how humane Celty is, a complete irony as she is considered probably the least human being. In contrast to many of the other characters in the series though, (my thoughts particularly on the crazy policemen,) she really is this focused symbol of irony, in that she shows how really insane and inhumane everyone else is.

While she doesn’t beat Eucliwood in the scale of badass, she gets pretty high up there. The reason why she DOES rank as #6 is that, she’s probably the most realistic character out there. I mean, as far as headless women go, anyways.

5. Sonozaki Shion ~ Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni

The next two characters sort of actually relate to each other, I just realized. Slightly. Not completely. Shion sort of drew me in, I mean, I’m always a fan of twins, but Shion was something special. She had this very calm and mature sort of personality, and she seemed to always care for those around her.

Now ultimately, this ends up being, well… Bad. But that thought is still there. She seemed to me to be years ahead of her age, definitely taking things in a much more logical approach than most of the others.

So what did happen? Well, love happened. And really, that’s as simple as that. It’s happened in a lot of animes, but this one showed how cold that obsession can really be.

Shion, you get #5 because you were the character that, even with all the insanity, could still be pitied. Because in the end of the day, nobody was really in the wrong. Things just sort of… Happened.

4. Kawashima Ami ~ Toradora!

Ami is sort of this big deal. Yeah. Like seriously. When I begun watching Toradora!, it was Minori. Oh it was Minori all the way. I loved her rambunctious and zany attitude. But then you’re introduced to Ami. And let me tell you something, Ami is really interesting.

While it may seem like she’s just “acting” like an adult, she really is one. With a childish sort of love for Ryuuji, she knows that it’s impossible, and who is truly meant to be with Ryuuji. Knowing this, she really does back off, she doesn’t try and start anything, she just sort of sits in the shadows.

It really also makes her the most pitiable character of the show, in that she really does deserve someone she loves. Her knowing personality is what I really love. She’s wise beyond her age, something caused because of that celebrity status.

At first she comes off as a celebrity snob, that’s obvious. But as the show progresses, you really get to know Ami and understand where she comes from. Even thought she could have the luxurious life all the time, she wants to spend as much time with a normal life in school.

So Ami, you get #4. As the sort of “act like a ♥♥♥♥♥” sort of attitude, you really pull it off, but you still show that honest and innocent side that exists.

3. Akemi Homura ~ Puella Magi Madoka Magica

I think this one is really self-explanatory, honestly. I mean, I’m actually just not going to say anything. No spoilers. This is seriously an easy one. Homura. Meet #3. You deserve it.

2. Korone ~ Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou
Image

Oh gosh I can go into thousands of reasons why Korone is probably the best character ever.

If you have ever watched Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou, you’ll probably realize one thing at first. Fanservice. Oh my gosh. So much boobs. And so, in a series like this, you wouldn’t really expect any sort of good to come from it.

But that first impression, while fairly accurate for the rest of the show, doesn’t show what’s really hidden within this anime.

Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou is, in a nutshell, about a kid who wants to do righteous works to help the world but is branded as the Demon King, and then a bunch of females appear and he pretty much creates a harem.

Most of the females in this show are your typical harem characters. Tsunderes, ones that just want to get into Daimaou’s pants, that sort of thing.

But then there’s this shining gem named Korone. And oh my gosh is she a shining gem. Within an anime such as this, you really wouldn’t expect to find such a character like Korone.

Korone is an android, and seemingly has this sort of stoic personality where she simply states what is necessary and, you know, acts very robotic. But that’s far, FAR from the truth. Korone really decides to give a middle finger to the androids of the animes and instead decides to turn into this very playful and fun character. Even though she has a straight face, her mind is almost always plotting ways to screw around with the MC, pissing him off and making us enjoy her so much more. She really has this mischievous streak, something you really wouldn’t expect from her, even sometimes how she acts will throw you off.

Korone, you are without a doubt one of my favorite characters, I really wished the show had given you much more showtime, because in every scene you were in, you pretty much stole the spotlight. So Korone, you are #2 on the list, only to be beaten by one person.

1. Okabe Rintarou or Kyouma HOUOUIN ~ Steins;Gate

MAD SCIENTIST HOUOUIN! I really was going to try not putting any characters from ongoing shows, but, honestly, I just had to. Okabe, you are the most interesting character, without a doubt, within any anime. With such an unpredictable personality, you make every scene you are in just made of insanity. And since you’re the MC, you make Steins;Gate just pure insanity. Now, I really don’t want to give any spoilers, so I’ll just say that while you have this very zany personality, you really do show how much actions can change a person.

Your character is surprisingly dynamic, giving an even more respectable figure than in the beginning, Okabe, I hope that the ending of Steins;Gate ends up, however it does, in your favor. You truly deserve it, Mad scientist.

Note: Surprised that Dalian isn't on this list? It's very tough to decide who to pick and who to not pick. The reason I didn't pick Dalian was because, while she is probably one of the characters I enjoyed the most, there really isn't any reason to, honestly. She's interesting, but not fantastically interesting. The reason why I like Dalian so much is because she's probably the cutest moe character in the freaking world, so yes, Dalian, you get an honorable mention.
