I had considered addressing that in my previous post, but decided against it, as I thought the symbolism was quite clear. However, since you ask, I will briefly discuss the most significant point:

Spoiler: show
The raisin in this scene symbolizes hopelessness, as Walt desperately attempts to kill the fly. This parallels Hank's condition as he struggles to recover from the shootout with the cousins. However, Jesse and Walt eventually succeed in their efforts. This foreshadows the success of Hank's hand job.

That last line is gold. I'm done here. Can't beat that. P.S. you should totally start regularly reviewing TV and movies and stuff and focus on the most ridiculous symbolic stuff. It would be hilarious.

EDIT for anyone who might come into this thread later:

Vague Spoilers for Breaking Bad and Gone Girl: show
So which box cutter scene was more gruesome? I honestly didn't think Breaking Bad's could possibly be topped but I think I was proven wrong.

You know, MIC, I just got to thinking...You said earlier that you were a big fan of Rian Johnson's work in the show. Well, I'm sure you're aware of this, but Johnson directed "Fly," which happens to be a very divisive episode among fans because of its lack of plot development. So I was just wondering what you thought of it? (Personally I really liked the episode.)

One of my favorites. I might consider it the best episode of the series except that in order to claim that title, I think an episode really ought to showcase all that the show is capable of, whereas Fly's focus is very narrow. But it's certainly in my top 5 episodes. It's beyond funny, visually one of the most interesting episodes of the show, and Walt's monologue about the right time to die as well as his near-confession with Jesse on the ladder was magnificent.

If you haven't seen it, you should check out Brick and Looper, two of Rian's three feature films. They're both excellent. I have not seen The Brothers Bloom, his second film, but of course we'll have episode VIII of Star Wars to look forward to.

I wonder what the spider in a jar (from the kid that Todd shot) symbolizes.

I thought it symbolized Jesse and the fact that he was trapped in the criminal world. And the fact that Todd keeps the spider as a pet probably acts as a little foreshadowing...

Also, going off a bit of a tangent here, I was looking up the Dead Freight page on IMDB to find some other theories about the spider (ended up finding nothing), when I came across the comments section (yeah that was probably a mistake on my part). It seriously baffles me how much people hated Skyler over this series. For that matter, I can't believe how many people actually sided with Walt over Jesse and Hank in season 5B. Are people truly this dumb? Please tell me it's a joke. OK, I admit I went through my own phase of Skyler-hate at one point:

"OH, you paid your medical bills and saved us from a financial crisis but won't tell me everything you do with your time? FAAAGRHA YOU TERRIBLRE PERSON." And then she goes and smokes even though she's a few days from giving labor.

(Why I did I say Anna Gunn was pissing me off and not just Skyler? Sorry Anna...)

I'm just glad I came to my senses. Really, the fact that people still felt no sympathy for her character after season 5 is beyond me. And the Jesse/Hank haters? Don't even get me started.

I can relate to both of them actually. I like to interpret Walter as representation to "darker" sides of humanity. I actually like all/most of the characters. :P

Also, a question to anyone (who finished the series): Favorite episode?
