After a bit of thought, I now think that Stan might be the author of the three mysterious books.

Short to the point, and I can be wrong (it's an opinion), even though we haven't seen the first, Stan may possess it. The location where Dipper found Book 3 is highly suspicious. Maybe Stan, hypothetically being the author, never got to finish it, and expected his nephew/niece to finish unlocking the town's secrets. But, it could be too "unsettling" if Stan bluntly told them that there IS something strange about the town, thus he ignores it.
Also, maybe Gideon's rivalry with Stan is somehow connected with the town's "color," since Gideon does use Book 2 for revenge against the Pines family.

I finally found the image I was looking for. ^

Also, about the mysterious books....

I think it's possible that Old Man McGrucket may be the writer. First off, mechanical genius. Second off, do you remember when he said "Eat the books." to the children back in Episode 8? I think he may fear that the books may fall into the wrong hands.

Stan is not what he seems and he might be evil.

In order to support that theory, hear this.

I think it says "Must distrust Grunkle." or "Must destroy Grunkle.".

It is rather intresting and cool at the same time. Animated shows are starting to show up some effort. Seriously: Adventure Time, MLP, Regular Show, Gumball, P&F, and now this. I remember that when I was 10, the top shows around were either bad or plainly boring (Squirrel Boy, My Gym Partner is a Monkey). I believe that Chowder, Flapjack and Total Drama Island were the ones that started this "revival" of humorous and surreal shows that I'd recommend to almost anyone.

This is a personal opinion, but I am so glad this shows are being made. I am not ashamed at all to check the children channels more than FOX.

Cheers, writters and animations!

What I wonder about the show is the like, the main mystery behind everything. Maybe in a final episode or something, we'll know what connects all these mysteries in town together...

I've only watched like 2 episodes but I'm pretty sure Gravity Falls is known as a mysterious place for a reason.
