Also I finally got around to reading through the rest of the thread and I agree with what pat said (although it was almost 2 years ago). This isn't really just another "kids' show." It's a lot deeper than that, and there's quite a bit more thought put into it. The show touches on some pretty deep themes, whether directly or through metaphor/symbolism (is it just me, or is Bill Cipher supposed to literally be the devil), and explores a lot of aspects of the human experience that most other shows tend to shy away from in favour of comedic value, plot, views/ratings, "protecting" kids, or other less meaningful things. See this video for more about that (obviously not made by me, but it explains pretty much everything. Also, it's SPOILER-FREE). I'm definitely not ashamed to say that this is up on the list of my favourite shows of all time.

Steven Universe is still better though :3

edit III: Eh, me a few weeks ago overhyped this a lot. See Bryce's and Raz's posts below. I think I was mostly just overexcited and I had gotten fan theories confused with literary analysis and in general I had just gotten way too obsessed with SU and GF that month so probably disregard most of this post because I was probably really tired and my reevaluated opinion is that I enjoyed it, but it was pretty predictable and not very interesting in certain parts, and the animation style/music/jokes are what kept me going. It's still a decent show and there were a few really good episodes (s2e09-12) but it's not like it was the best thing I've ever watched. If you like this show, you'll probably like SU, and if you like SU, you might like this show, but as others have said, don't expect a ton from this.

I thought the Stan O' War was built bigger, as seen while Stanley is talking to Stanford on the swings in a flashback (the scene before Stanley breaks his brother's science project).

[23:13:12] <Bryce> I should watch the last two episodes so I can post in the Gravity Falls thread and ♥♥♥♥ on everyone's parade
(Except I didn't realize that I had already watched the two latest episodes and I just didn't remember.)

Oh boy, it's time for that. I don't actually dislike it as much as that previous quote suggests, but I find Gravity Falls pretty ehhhhh. The show does do a good job landing solid jokes, and there are some really amazing and emotional episodes in the second season, but beyond that, the show is, to me, just passable. Generally, the show didn't really impress me all too much. Like I said, there are a few fantastic episodes, but I had to slog through almost two full seasons of episodes that are competent at best. Maybe I'm just jaded and had my standards too high, but whatever. However, all of that being said, I'll probably still watch the new episodes when they come out because the show actually has some well built intrigue now and I'm all caught up now.

It's probably better to watch Gravity Falls before Steven Universe. I expected too much.

...This almost scared me, especially coming out of Gravity Falls. I don't want to wait any longer. :<

Because I couldn't help myself.

(Video won't work in youtube tags for some strange reason, but if this video ever works for you, simply disregard what I've just typed up in these parentheses.)
