The Evil Dead
"The Evil Dead" is a trilogy of comedy-horror films directed by Sam Raimi and starring Bruce Campbell. It's quite a fantastic series and I defenitely recommend it to anyone who can stand some extreme graphic violence. Let me give a small guide on the three movies.
~First Film~
"The Evil Dead" (1981)
MPAA Rating: NC-17
Gore Content Rating: 10/10
Funniness Rating: 6/10
Overall quality rating: 9/10
The goriest out of the three. Also has the lowest budget out of them. ($350,000) This one was intended to be serious, but it ended up being unintentionally funny mainly due to the low budget and bad acting. However, the unintentional funniness was still unintentional and thus there wasn't a ton of it. The violence was over-the-top and incredibly unrealistic. Still a very good movie, though.
~Second Film~
"Evil Dead 2" (1986)
MPAA Rating: X
Gore Content Rating: 8.5/10
Funniness Rating: 9.5/10
Overall Quality Rating: 9.5/10
A bit less gory than the first. Still has a huge amount of gore, though. Including literal blood fountains. This one was intentionally funny, and is probably the funniest movie I have ever seen. Even better than the original.
~Third Film~
"Army of Darkness" (1992)
MPAA Rating: R
Gore Content Rating: 6/10
Funniness Rating: 8.5/10
Overall Quality Rating: 8.5/10
This one is nowhere near as gory as the first two films. Most deaths are completely bloodless aside from a few ones that are a bit more graphic. A very good and funny movie. Not quite as funny as the second, but still funny. Completely lacked the horror element of the first two films, however. Also had a bit more sexual content than Evil Dead 2.
A reboot of the series also came out recently, but honestly I think it looks stupid. Too serious. But anyway, has anyone else ever heard of this series?
