8-Bit Composing

Hello there fellow readers.

As you might know by now i'm composing some 8-bit music and i'm really interested in hearing what you guys think so far.
I will update with some new tracks every now and then.

And i would be more than honored to have you guys hearing out the music i made so far.

Currently i've made an 8-bit music with the title Metroid - Kraids Lair
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-x-xNecN8w
This was the first song i've ever created. So yeah, just a kickstarter.

Today i've done a new 8-bit song, it's not a cover so in other words, it's my own
original song titled: A Leaf in the Ocean
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TnY9HPeCrs

Hello there again, i made yet another 8-bit song. I was just messing around with some
sounds until i got some music. Well, here it is.
I Titled it: Faded Machinery
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2m-QHg4H40

Made 2 songs today, lets see what you guys think about these ones.
The name of the first song is: Jumping Through Fields of Corn
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfjpFvKCR9E
This was a very experimental song, and well it turned out to be OK.

My second song that i made today was by experimenting with the different sound packs.
And well some stuff with sawtooth and such. There's also some DPCM pack included.
I called it: Ice Risk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPI9R2h7c-g
Yet again very experimental, turned out to be OK.

I thought to myself and just sang a melody, i heard the beat and so it ended up as an 8-bit song.
The Name is: Ancient Encryption
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNM3bm-nXrM
One of the longest compositions with a twist.

This week was special, i made a remix instead of an original song.
This time: Astral Observatory from Zelda Majoras Mask
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjqFYK5OIwM
Took me about 4 hours, but still!

So i'm finally getting serious with 8-bit, here's when i combine all the things i've learned and actually composed a themed level.
Name of the song: Beneath the Shifting Sands
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/538805?updated=1
This one took me around 1 hour to make. Tho' it's very short.

Here's my theme for a part of my life... In this track i combine many effects and instruments. I like it.
Name of the song: Happy Times
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/539623?updated=1
This one took me about 2 hours to make. It's not to short not to long either.
i'd say it's fair and simple.

A song i made but well, it turned out ok. But i wouldn't have posted it if it weren't for a request..
Name of the song: Floating Within the Cloud
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/541025
Yeah, without a doubt the longest of compositions...

A song that means more than i want to say.
Name of the song: Fake Smiles
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/541247
One of my best compositions without a doubt.

Thanks for all support!

Thanks - Constructive Criticism is much appreciated

Be Sure to post your own compositions aswell <3

Right, going off my FamiTracker know here -

Kraid's Lair - OK I know this is directly from danooct1's tutorial
A Leaf in the Ocean - Melody and harmony clash quite a lot, but I like your noisedrum. You don't need an instrument for every separate channel, though - there's even an in-tracker effect for altering the wave modulation (V0X) - I find it useful for switching between sawtooth and square in a snap.

Haha yeah about the metroid "kraid's Lair", i thought i'd post it just as a kickstarter.

Nevertheless, about the (V0X), i'll try experimenting with that effect thanks!
I must ask though, the "Sawtooth" is it in the other "Sound Packs" or is it there in "Standard". Because either i missed it or maybe i haven't looked into it yet.
The "Scpm" (i hope I spellt that right) is something you have to import too i would believe.

I'm also aware that I don't need an instrument for every channel, though maybe that'll fuse the melody better than with to many different ones?

Anyways, thanks for response bro. Much appreciated! :)

...what? I'm sorry, you completely lost me there. A standard 2A03 can have three unique modulations. The first is sawtooth, the second is rectangle, the third is square. Sawtooth is 0%, Rectangle is 25% and Square is 50%.

DCPM samples. You can allocate each sample to a different key of the instrument - say you had a crash in C and a snare in D, then you could enter C for the kick and D for the drum in the DCPM channel.

Quite simply, it's EASIER than having to constantly change instrument unless you're doing advanced things.

Well to put it frankly, i almost get it with the (vox) thing, i just don't know where to locate it.
I think i have to make a new song, and to put it simply, import the new layout.

Nevertheless, it could me being stupid also.

Anyways, thanks for commenting and helping bro.
I do really appreciate it, it means a lot to me.

So thanks! :)

Yep i finally get what you meant with all the things you said to me. With some experimenting i begin to understand more
about how famitracker works.
Thanks mate!
