MP3's Movie List

Postby ~MP3 Amplifier~ » March 28th, 2015, 7:20 am

Okay so, ever since realising one of my true ambitions in life is acting and I desperately want more inspiration and experience with it, I've decided to watch more films- these are films that I've either never seen before and have been wanting to see for a good while, or films that I saw years ago or have only seen in parts that I want to watch again. This was about a month ago and I've already gotten through a most of them.

But I want more. D:

My current list is coming to an end soon, and I don't wanna miss out on any amazing films. So I need you guys to recommend me some. Here's my list so far:

  • Good Will Hunting (seen)
  • Girl, Interrupted (seen)
  • The Shawshank Redemption (seen)
  • The Dark Knight (seen)
  • The Lovely Bones (seen)
  • Forrest Gump
  • The Matrix
  • Amelie
  • Interstellar

And for the record, I'm not overall that fussy about genres, as long as it's not horror (or p0rn for obvious reasons lol).
I can handle small to moderate amounts of violence but nothing over the top or it triggers a phobia of mine. But if you still have a film in mind that is let's say a 'violent' film, you can still recommend it here, it's just I will check for myself whether or not it's something I can handle.

I'll keep further edits for films I want to watch on this post so I can keep track of them somehow.

I'd definitely suggest watching Interstellar if you haven't yet. It's over 3 hours long, but it's definitely worth watching, or it was for me, at least.

Outside of that, I don't really have much else, because I don't watch many movies myself, so... good luck.

The violence thing is kind of disappointing, mostly because I was going to just give you all Tarantino. I GUESS NOT.

You should definitely watch Pulp Fiction if you haven't though. There's random bursts of violence but it is Tarantino's most memorable work and it's amazing.

Back to the Futures 1 and 2.
Scott Pilgrim v. The World
Fight Club
Zombieland has mild horror but it's a comedy, so it's not trying to be scary.
Airplane!
Anime movie: 5 Centimeters per Second

Are those all the movies you've ever watched? o.O Like, I'm assuming you've seen the Lord of the Rings trilogy right?

I'd assume she has watched more than 5 movies >.>

I liked Rush Hour (1 and 2 especially), though I'm a sucker for Jackie Chan. It's a comedy/action mix and it's pretty good IMO.

Lawl I have watched a lot more films than that. XD
These are just the 5 I have watched over the last month.

I have thoughts about seeing Pulp Fiction, regardless of the fact that it's violent. I don't think I could pass the offer lol. And Fight Club is another one I wanted to see too. Btw I have seen Scott Pilgrim vs the World and Back to the Future all 3 parts and pure love for both, they're awesome films. And I've seen 5 Centimetres per Second and that's great too. You have good taste in films ;)

With the violence thing, it's only when it's extreme that it becomes a problem, I have a phobia of that kind of thing since about the age of 10 when I saw something horrific. :S
E.g. blood is fine, but more detail than that...no thanks. And I don't like infliction of violence either, like seeing the aftermath isn't a problem.

So yeah, you can still recommend violent films but I'll just check the details for myself using IMdB before watching it.

Shaun of the Dead is a great zombie film and probably one of my favorite comedy movies out there. I recommend watching that if you haven't already. If you find Edgar Wright's humor appealing, I wholly recommend checking out the entire Cornetto trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End, although I personally haven't seen Hot Fuzz yet). Wright's films have some of the cleverest comedy out there.

Another movie I'd recommend is Whiplash. J.K. Simmons gives one of the most compelling and surprising performances in this film that I've ever seen. I actually decided to watch the movie twice because, admittedly, I didn't like the ending the first time I saw it. But upon viewing it a second time I came to appreciate the message of the ending much more. Despite appearing as a band film on the surface, I think it's a movie that most people would greatly enjoy.

As long as it isn't any movie of the Kill Bill series you should be fine.

Hey, thanks everyone for the suggestions.

I've actually found a site called iCheckMovies.com which basically has everything I'm asking for lol. Currently I've seen 557 films, maybe more depending on how many I can remember lol. So quite a lot of films... :3

Seconded, Whiplash was freaking fantastic. Also seconding Airplane!, Pulp Fiction, Back to the Future (especially the first one). Reservoir Dogs is my personal favorite Tarantino and is also pretty violent.

Whiplash is on my watchlist too. (:
Another film I'd love to watch (but tbh am terrified to see in case I get traumatised) is Requiem For A Dream. But I think if I ever even dare to watch that I'm going to have to buy a dozen packs of teddy bears, tissues, chocolate bars and sleeping pills.

Jk but it is rated as one of the hardest films to watch and it's understandable why, but it's also a work of genius.
