Has Rock Died?

Postby Avo » May 19th, 2010, 6:56 pm

Ah Rock. The best music out there, not that T-Pain, Owl City, Lady Gaga crap. Bands like KISS, Rush, Scorpions, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who. They are all amazing.

I guess I should get to my point. Today's music.....sucks, I'm sorry to all those people who think it's awesome but it can't compare To Rock. All 80's, 90's, 70's, 60's, the 1900's had amazing music. Then you look at today's music. Say, Black Eyed Peas, Justin Bieber (Oh god......I hate him......) Miley Cyrus. And you think, What happened to REAL music? And I've been thinking........has Rock died?

I mean, we haven't seen a good rock or metal song in ages, at least I don't think........it's seems everyone has turned to the punk, hip-hop, pop side of music. Ah well. That's there choice. But I think Rock isn't dead, something this great can't go away.

Discuss.

That's true. Yes rock was invented a long time ago, but it seems like everyone got fed up with it.

I agree with you, Avo. I doubt music will ever be as creative and entertaining as it was decades ago. The best music now-a-days is Video Game music.

It's more of an alternative band.

Rock is dead they say,
LONG LIVE ROCK!

(Kudos to whoever knows the song.)

Well, I will confess that there will never be new rock and roll of the caliber of the great stuff of the '60s, '70s, and '80s ('90s were pretty bad except for efforts made by bands who got their starts earlier). That said, rock isn't dead as long as people listen to it. I for one will never stop listening to the true music of the past. If enough people continue to listen to it, it won't die. But I do fear that in a century or two, nobody will know who Jimi Hendrix is, or who the Beatles were, or what a melody is…

Rock isn't dead.... It's just dead in the United States!
In the U.S., all the rap talking, pop gum stuff, and death metal crap are hitting the #1 Spots for the best music which are played the most often on the radio. While in every were else, the bands that are still making music that were from the 60's, 70's, and 80's are hitting the #1 Spots for the best music there and are being played along with the classic stuff they did in there starting era on the radio in that country. For example, Aerosmith is greater appreciated in Japan, China, South Ameria, Germany, and many more then the place they started, the United States. Which is why when I get older, I might go to Japan when I grow up, xD!

Eh... Being a fan of modern rock, I will admit that it's hard to find a good long lasting band. I wouldn't say that "Rock has died" per say, but I would say that it's been wounded by a bloody tomahawk to the head. There are still good bands, it's just much harder to find them, seeing as some of them will eventually turn into pop rock.

No, rock hasn't died, remember? As long as Journey, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, AC/DC,the Who, and all those other bands are still here, rock will live forever.
