Not taking requests

... So lots of my bad art was deleted because I forgot about my imageshack account. That site's not the best for imagehosting anyway.

Guess who's back and in full force now that I don't have to worry about liberal arts, though?
And with a new format, too.

Devima Nariku(v3): show

[Graphite]
No color because I give up trying to sketch with photoshop and other art programs on this ♥♥♥♥ computer. So I'll just be doing pen/pencil work for OCs and such now. I like how it turned out.
pumpkin carving: show
Image

[Pumpkin Carving]
I got a free pumpkin and was all "Wynaut."
This is the result. Didn't take too long, actually, but you know. Hurricanes.
Selfsketch: show
Image

[Digital Raster]
This probably took two hours on photoshop.
My winter vacation got boring fast. And these visitors don't help.
Pier Underside: show
Image

[Graphite]
Yeah, so water has always been a ♥♥♥♥♥ for me to draw. I decided to apply myself the other day when I decided I would draw a wallpaper with the kancolle krew though and this happened.
The other aspects of the wallpaper(cityscape, mountains, characters) will be drawn separately since I want to transfer these to digital eventually.
Spirit of Giving 2015: show
Image

[Graphite]
For the past week I've been preparing stuff to give the active members of the minecraft server. I was gonna make a skin for myself too, but I think this drawing is more than enough for me. :3c
Radio Happy: show

[Graphite]
Yui Ohtsuki is a passion-type idol from the Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls franchise. She was my immediate favorite when Chau got me into Starlight Stage, its mobile rhythm game, and two days ago, her song was released.

When I heard the preview about a month ago, the hype began. I did this one night while I was waiting for the release. Many all-nighters were had, and now I'm looping this 2000s American pop-like masterpiece all weekend while I catch up on schoolwork.

Highschool Work:
Still-Life Story: show
Image

[Acryllic Paint]
I actually didn't get into AP Art in highschool. :X Mostly because I had a poor work ethic at home, so I didn't complete the assignments. This was one that I did end up completing though. The flowerpot is symbolic of my elderly parents who used to seemingly loom over every decision I had and every hobby I took on. The controller is of course, symbolic of my favorite hobby, there's also a metal container with art supplies symbolizing my caged (whether by emotion or obligation) desire to create, and there's actually a cross on the left which suggests that I was backing away from Catholicism at the that time.
D.C. National Cathedral: show
Image

[Graphite]
That summer, I was in D.C. visiting family and sightseeing, so I decided to seize the opportunity and choose something interesting to sketch.

The point of this was to utilized perspective, but I forgot all about that at the time and was more or less eyeing it. I think I got away with it.
Forest Landscape: show
Image

[Oil Pastel]
Here's another summer assignment I managed to do. There were 8, and I only completed 5 by the way. This is a sloppier one that I don't have much to say about; outside of my house, there was a good chunk of forest that some of my friends used to play paintball in. I took a photo one gloomy morning and blah.
Endless Aisle: show
Image

[Colored Pencil]
So this is an assignment where I had to grid out all the guidelines because perspective. This is what single-handedly made me hate physical perspective pieces. The graphite overrides and colored pencil that came afterwards. It was annoying.

Meaning? Not much, I could BS a response about how I'm backed away from the altar because I gave up trying to meet up with a higher deity's ideals and turned back to establish my own, but I honestly didn't think of that until now.
Snail Pointillism: show
Image

[Marker]
It looks okay from a distance. This was an exercise in color. We only got to use the primaries and black. Kinda like CMYK except I didn't know about that util way after.
Pixel Self Portrait: show
Image

[Acryllic Paint]
HAHA YOU THOUGHT I WOULD BE DISTINGUISHABLE

Once again, it looks okay from a distance. You might be able to differentiate my nose from my glass. This was a ver backwards assignment for, considering I used to do a lot of pixel art.
"Starlog": show
Image

[Watercolor Paint & Graphite]
After awhile, we started our concentration, which is another way of saying "Pick a theme. That's what you'll be working with for the rest of the year." Mine was music. I was in band, and very interested in visualization of music. I think I had a lot of imaginary music videos playing out in my head a lot. Of course, I couldn't animate those (still can't), so I did the next best thing and try to flow the art with the music.

"Starlog" - Choucho was my first choice. Out of it, I interpreted a life guide. As children, we aren't typically held by a structure yet (thus the lack of lines around the edges), we make really naive yet innocent promises, both to ourselves and others. Sometimes, we hold dear to those even as we grow older and life starts hitting us with (rather serious) hardships; in this case, represented with the cracks in the glass. Our individual goals are always vague, and sometimes they shift, but we're always reaching for happiness or closure (the center star).

I chose a stained glass motif because I wanted to use watercolor and a cool method of texturing with salt. They go really well with starry skies. In each cardinal direction, there are four different scenarios. From top, going clockwise: Two friends get into a serious fight, a child is disowned and kicked out of the house, someone close to a person passes away, and a couple breaks up. There are also murals in the sub-cardinals. Interpret as you may.
Keychain in cubist style: show
Image

[Acryllic Paint]
So now I get Picasso.

I guess I like the color contrast.

Uh, yeah. That's all I have to say about this one.
Assorted Cubism Still Life: show
Image

[Acryllic Paint & India Ink]
I guess this one has an interesting process associated with it. For this, I remember shading it first with damp India Ink. It gave a neat brown tint to boot.

It also got recognized at a state art show but I didn't get nothin' for it :c

College work:
Fork vector: show
Image

[Digital Vector]
So this wasn't actually done in time: my professors were rather generous my first semester. When this was originally assigned, I was not at all comfortable with vectors or adobe illustrator. If I had done it in time, I guarantee this would look like crap.
Assymetry: show
Image

[Digital Raster]
A lot of these will be exercises. This one was for others to learn about the different types of symmetry. Before this, we made a physical version with three versions of each type of symmetry (normal, radial, and assymetry).
Rainy Division: show
Image

[Digital Raster]
This assignment was a practice of brush making in photoshop. Pretty cool, especially considering I have a tablet.

The inspiration to draw this in particular was as follows:
On a commute home from class, my phone ran out of power and I had forgotten my charger. I planned on using it the whole drive back because it was evening, and thus rush hour (my mother drove me to and from as compensation for not having moved closer yet). I decided to look out the window, and it was raining. The drizzle combined with the headlights coming from the other side of the divided highway made a beautiful visual; light scattered like dust from the edge of my eye to the horizon.
Wolf&Lamb Tessellation: show
Image

[Digital Vector]
A tessellation is basically a shape which is able to repeat indefinitely on a page and fit into itself. This is very much cheating, but it's a pretty pattern. Cut me some slack.
Progression of Music: show
Image

[Digital Raster]
The week I was assigned a digital or physical collage, the professor was teaching others about the elements of design: things like placement, rhythm, flow, unity, and other things you can google if you're that curious. I probably overdid the layers on this one (she had trouble opening the file), but it came out just as I wanted, save for even more layers with more instruments.

Tell me: how do you think it flows?
Vegetable sketch exercises: show
Image

[Graphite]
The kick with this one was that the professor was trying to help us stray from outlines and working on shading and believable form. I feel like I'm typing this to no one, but hey, at least you guys can assume I'm smart and not look into any of this.

In layman's terms, shading. Obviously the top-left came out best, because I did a combination of stippling(dots) and crosshatching(intersecting lines).

The first three are supposed to be tomatoes, the last one is a pepper.
Pepper on tessellation: show
Image

[Digital Raster]
ayy, guess what this combines

Cool cool, guess I don't have to explain much. Other than this professor hates centered subjects.
Woodlank Park: show
Image

[Digital Vector]
vectors are so coooooooooooool

This is a landscape of a part of my campus. All this was was an assignment to get everyone using illustrator more. God damn is it a great program though, so I'm not complaining.

Of course no one will ever replace Rika-chan. At first, this looked really confused, but then I started thinking about stuff I learned in art class. Yes, I actually did learn something new. Elements of Art or something. Expect more and more. I think I'm pursuing animation and graphical design for a career, and I'm starting to apply elements instead of just drawing stuff pretty. I think this one in particular uses rhythm and balance. I dunno though, I forget stuff easily lul.

[spoiler=avatar 2016]My Kirby recolor will always be something I hold dear to me even if I'm not that kind of smasher anymore. The flame that is usually lit atop its head is out because we are at rest.

This is the full render, which took about two nights to do. Obviously, it needs to be resized for use, though.

Acting like a give a damn... kyuu~

Nin: Hey! Don't pinch my nose!

(Kyuu is the onomatopoeia for 'pinch'.)

In all seriousness, though, this is good.
