1) wait
2) no
3) this is trying to draw using MS Paint
4) you're not being ironic
5) your signature bar is a JPEG
6) those aren't sprites
7) honestly this is really bad

Since MK doesn't do actual constructive criticism:

MS Paint is honestly not a good (sprite) program to use. If you can, download StencylWorks. Use some tweaking with the sprites you make on there and then put it into something like Dropbox, then use the [img] tags to put into your post.

Simples.

Next, the jpeg thing. MK is right there: PNG and other files ate highly superior. Notice how fuzzy your sprites are? The jpeg did that.
But the spriting ITSELF is rather good. It's a tad untidy and I would like to see a bit more but I recommend you keep it up.

It's no problem. Also, just a quick tip, use the EDIT button in the top-right of your post instead of putting two posts in a row, you can get warned for that :O

Clarification on .jpg files:

.jpg images are lossy, which means that some of the detailed information of an image is lost through the .jpg compression process. This means that if you save an image as a .jpg file, the image will appear fuzzy. .jpg files are usually much smaller in file size than their .png counterparts.

.png images are lossless, which means that the exact image is saved without any deviation or "space-saving" methods. These are often much cleaner and detailed, and do not have compression artifacts. .png files are larger, though since hard drives are so cheap, it doesn't really matter.

Go for .png or something lossless.

(someone correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not 100% confident in my compression knowledge)

Kirby859 wrote:compression gibberish

.jpg (1005 bytes) Image
.png (282 bytes) Image

And that's 95% compression on the .jpg (compression here kinda works in the reverse, 0% compression looks like a blob but 100% looks, until closer inspection, like the original)

Point is .jpg just look bad unless you have a large image like a photograph or digital painting with lots of Anti-aliasing (something to smooth the edges) and what your doing isn't that big and has no AA.
It's obvious that your just starting out. Everyone's been there. *coughhttp://i.imgur.com/NcaKTD4.pngcough* Good news it at least you took the lighting into account. My suggestion to you is to clean up your lines. Your star is hardly symmetrical and while the lighting is done more or less properly, everything is still flat and uninteresting.

Also I should note for future reference that you are using what's known as "pillow shading" on the balls of light there. Pillow shading is a mistake that most artist make when starting to learn about lighting as it assumes the light is directly in front of the viewer. In this case it's fine as it seems the balls are their own light source but it's something that should be avoided in virtually every other object.

Also just remembered. MSPaint is a fine program for spriting guys. I know even I talk about "ew MSpain" but in all honesty it's got all the required functions and in the older version it practically forces you into making sprites. Though I would recommend a more powerful program, GIMP is pretty much photoshop but would likely be too much of a leap from MSpaint as I myself haven't even uncovered it's secrets. Graphics Gale is a great program for pixel art specifically and while not as confusing as GIMP it's still a bit of a leap and is only really good for Pixel art. What you probably want is Paint.net. It's pretty much MSpaint but with all the cool kid stuff like customization pallets, image effects, and plug-ins. And if you want to do pixel art just use the pencil tool or click this symbol Image to turn off the AA (all the fuzzy stuff that comes up when you use a brush or make a line)

... wow this got longer than I thought it would be. Guess I'm bored. nah I just hate seeing artist not getting the help they need.

That's really good for a kid who's just starting to do art digitally.

But if you're a good artist that is bad.

The rest that I have to say is in the post of the people above me. ^

Actually, if you know how to use it, MS Paint is the best sprite program. While layers and saving transparency aren't supported, the program itself is small and doesn't really require anything to load. I use it for my pixel art and sometimes sketches.
