Re: Newgen's Art

I was away for the week at a relatives house, so I haven't been working on much lately. However, I did create a sketch of G-man, but that's about it.

Make his face longer and the background black directed in a different direction as opposed to his hair, and it's pretty dang nifty

THE CREED: Nothing is True. Everything is Permitted.
"...That's rather cynical."

"It would be if it were doctrine, but it is merely an observation of the nature of reality.
To say that Nothing is True is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shephards of our own civilization.
To say that Everything is Permitted is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with the consequences, whether glorious...or tragic."
-Ezio Auditore da Firenze explaining the Creed, 1514, Masayaf.

I would've gone back over it, but first I started off being lazy, now I've just missed my chance to work on it completely, since other things have to get done now that I'm back in school. Maybe at some point in time, but for now I'm gonna hold that off until after school's over.

Other than that, I've got one painting which I've finished, and another which I'll be submitting to DeviantART on Monday or Tuesday, depends on when I get it back.

I held this one off for a long time, and it was almost finished too. All I had to do was go over the sky with a cyan color pencil and some red for the top half of the sky, then rub it down to smooth things out.

Also, expect me to be more frequent with my submissions now. (about an upload every three weeks, maybe two uploads if I have something I've worked on alongside my paintings)

Nice job. Do the cracks stop because they actually stop there or because you wanted them to fade away and lose their detail gradually? If the latter, I think it's too abrupt.

That reminds me that I have a bunch of painting supplies hiding around here somewhere. And that I have a dA account and am actually watching people.

Hm, just realized that. Never got around to fixing it. I mentioned that to someone back when I was actually working on it at school, then christmas break hit me, and I stopped doing things...

Just finished this one, and I have another one coming tomorrow if it doesn't happen to rain during school hours. I painted it in acrylics instead of watercolors, which was the best decision I've ever made. Also, in a week or two, another Wizard of Oz Themed painting will be done.

I figured since my school's art show's theme is the Wizard of Oz, I went with the theme. (plus I ended up using a smaller canvas size than I was supposed to, so I had to give my teacher a reason to grade it fairly.

That's all for now, hopefully I'll have something else for tomorrow...

Recently finished this at school today. I was going to upload a watercolor painting too, but my camera's batteries are drained and the charger is lost somewhere. Once I find my charger, I'll get a picture of it and upload it, but that might be tomorrow, or the next day at least.

I just can't be bothered to look for it right now, as I'm getting started on a whole new painting at the moment.

I ended up finding the charger to my camera, but it turns out it's already time to turn my paintings into the art show at my school. When the school year is over, I'll get them back, and take photos of the last two paintings I made.

In the meantime, I have a sketch I made a few days ago of the Legend of Zelda. Partially based off of the temple of time in Ocarina of Time, as well as in Twilight Princess.

I had this crazy idea recently about what I would do when I start painting this on a canvas. I could probably take two canvases, and paint two alternate worlds like in a Link Between Worlds' Hyrule/Lorule, with this sketch being turned upside down and making it Lorule. Then I could sketch a much more sacred/complete scene where the temple isn't in ruins, and stand that upright. (and also take the master sword out of the Lorule version)

It'd be nice to hang something like that up in my room. :awe:

It's been awhile, but now I have something to upload. The art show at my school has been taken down and the paintings that were on display will eventually be given back sometime this week, but in the mean time, I have a painting that I just finished.

The New Tetris

This was mostly inspired by the version of Tetris from the N64 called The New Tetris, which was a game I had back then and played it very often. The collecting of cleared lines and using them to build the 'seven wonders' was an interesting concept that kept me playing to reach an actual goal, driving my need to improve at the game. I still play it on Project 64 occasionally when I have the time.

Painted on canvas with acrylics and watercolors.

As a side note, when I went over the canvas with my watercolors, it created a neat texture effect on the canvas which you won't see as much from the photo I took. I coated the background with two layers of brown watercolor paint, which eventually warped some of the canvas and gave it a nice rough texture in some spots. Perfect for the project I'm doing, since it's a texture project.

Also, I know the shadows are a bit off, but it's not too noticeable...

Re: Newgen's Art

I've been procrastinating so much recently that all I have to show for after roughly a month is a sketch and a really small and simple watercolor painting.

http://nextgenify.deviantart.com/art/Japanese-Torii-Sketch-461269415
First off is a sketch for a new painting which will hopefully be done in the next three to four weeks. I was playing LSD dream emulator for awhile, and the opening cutscenes had me interested in painting something vaguely inspired by them. There's not going to be much in the painting aside from the structure in the sketch, and some really odd acid green colored storm clouds in the background, so it's a simple sketch. I'm not sure, but I might add some other things in the painting if I come up with anything.

http://nextgenify.deviantart.com/art/Prequel-Watercolor-Painting-461271762
I've been reading the Elder Scrolls based webcomic Prequel for awhile now, and while I am striving to build a better collection of original works that I can be proud of, I still can't resist the urge to paint fanart. Like I even said in the description of the gallery submission itself, maybe a little fanart here and there could get me into a decent schedule of getting things done rather than sitting on my ♥♥♥ all day long doing nothing.

Now with all that out of the way, I think I'll just go back to playing TF2 or something. Oh, and maybe take a photo of the one or two other paintings that I forgot about from like a month ago. That would probably be better... :<
