So basically references are pictures of you or your fan character. They will refer as that to you in drawings, comics and stories.

Tips for good refs:
- If you don't have one, you can request one, but the chance is not high that somebody does it. A crappy MSPaint image is enough - if you really want to request, say if it's human or not, look, colors, pose...
- Be creative. If your username is "Mario", don't just draw a Mario. Maybe he should have blue clothes?
- DON'T USE PICS OF OTHERS AS A BASE OR REFERENCE. A exception is if someone draws it for you.
