Hear hear moy, except main difference was I wasn't generous.
Supershroom wrote:Harmless, I've read your judging, and it was almost exactly the same situation which I've had while playing JJJ's level. I've almost felt like the second level had too many impossible challenges, but I've kept on trying and trying until I've got them all right.
Alright, rebuttal time. Notice the 0.5 difference in yours and TripleJ's score. As I mentioned in your review, keep in mind that the only thing that was noteworthy 'fun' in your level for me was the Koopa troopa underwater shell challenge. Meanwhile, TripleJ suffered from similar issues, except he had more creative platforming. Otherwise both of your executions were pretty terrible, and I did not enjoy playing them. I'm not going to give you a 6/10 for one Koopa troopa shell challenge, and likewise I'm not giving JJJ a 6/10 because he had creative platforming that was not very well executed.
Supershroom wrote:You see, I've had the ambition to master this level, while you've got pissed off way too early.
And how did you know my mood before I played the level? You're making an assumption that I got pissed off way too early. The first level of your series was not as entirely rage-worthy which I admitted in my review, so I hardly see how this holds water (no pun intended). Although I guess you could say that I pissed off later, because, y'know.
Supershroom wrote:I've playtested everything except from the stuff with the prologue and the pipes in the boss battle. I've made sure that all challenges are possible to play.
Alright, then you do me a favor. Load Part 1 for me, use the non-downloadable or downloadable version, whichever you prefer. Move your start position to the end of the freefall, where the pipe is leading to the second checkpoint. Test the level, enter the pipe, and touch nothing on your keyboard after that. Watch as Mario sails right past the two mushrooms with dialogue that the player probably wanted to read.
You clearly did not test this, or tested this very poorly. If this isn't evidence enough along with all the bugs and mishaps in your level, I don't know what is.
Supershroom wrote:It's possible to dodge the flames on the boat ride (you need to stand as left as you can), and it's even rather easy to reach the platforms in the blue trial (just spin instead of walking on the ground).
BAHAHAHAHA no, it is not. Sorry, but that's exactly what I did first time around, and the first flamethrower got me no matter how far left I went. If I went too far left I fell in the water. Unless if you made it so pixel perfect that you have to stand on the very corner of the block, which is in itself very hard to do. In that case then my judging remains unchanged - fix it.
As for the Blue Challenge, how about no. Maybe if you had a laggy computer so you could have everything pixel perfect and in slo-mo like a Tool Assisted Speedrun, then maybe. But on 30 FPS it is practically impossible. Probably even on 25 FPS it would likely be impossible. Point is, you didn't have a high enough duration setting for the platforms, resulting in something incredibly frustrating and near impossible to get past. You wouldn't believe how much time I spent on that.
And yes, I spin attacked at least 75% of the time.
Supershroom wrote:If you ever don't know how to pass a challenge in my level, please PM me next time. (and of course this applies for all other judges too)
I'm not going to PM the creator of the level how to get past a boss fight that is practically impossible in the first place. If something's incompleteable, then there's no real question to it. No ifs, ands, or buts either. If there's too few coins given to travel too much of a distance, then there's too few coins given to travel too much of a distance.
Supershroom wrote:I'm gonna edit everything that needs to be edited (making pipes for the checkpoints, removing the sand in the ghost ship, fixing that stuff in the prologue etc). and then it's gonna be WITBLO worthy and then I still didn't waste all that time on making these levels.
Then why the hell did you start badgering me on my criticism?? Just fix the mistakes and roll with it. It's not like everyone's going to get ♥♥♥♥ malaria because you didn't place 5th in your first LDC.
Supershroom wrote:Nonetheless, I'm even more frustrated seeing that if you and Nwolf weren't pissed off so damn early and gave judgings like Amp or MoD, it might have been sufficient for 5th. Next time, I'll do a lot simplier, meaning there will be less bugs etc, and maybe I'll win a ribbon or even more.
*simplerI'll tell you one thing though, I am not changing my personality or judging code just because a sore loser doesn't like my 'style of judging' or thinks I'm 'not generous enough'. If I get pissed off in a level (which to be honest, I rarely get pissed off in a level), then I get pissed off in a level. Period. It sounds trite, sure, but it's the truth. If there was an area which I felt was forced damage, then there was an area which I felt was forced damage. I'm not going to add something like 'however, even though it got me pretty frustrated and made me want to break something to smithereens, I suppose I can just let it go BECAUSE I'M GENEROUS OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT'.
No offense to Amp or MoY though, they do give excellent critique. But I'm not an Amp or MoY clone, you shouldn't expect me to be one either. When something frustrates me to gut-wrenching experiences like your level series, don't expect me to be happy about it.
Anyways, point is, I had legitimate reasons to being upset with your level, and you don't have much of a right to say that it was Nwolf's or my fault that you didn't place. I really don't need to say anything else, it's all in the judgings.
