19th Level Designer Contest
Hello.
Turns out the people up top were apparently incredibly desperate for someone to host the next LDC. They said they needed someone reliable, responsible, and incredibly good-looking. Naturally, I was their go-to guy.
So I'll be your host today.
Now, as for the theme, I actually did quite a bit of thinking. It seemed that most themes, save a few, had something in common. They were very light-hearted in mood. Of course, one may argue that the game itself is a bit restricting, as it's a Mario game, and it's meant to be light-hearted. But even so, I started wondering. What would today's level designers be able to do with a theme that was strictly grim and serious in mood?
And that is how I came upon the theme for today. The theme that one could argue is the most grim and serious theme ever touched upon in any work of art, literature, music, or anything, ever.
The rules would be the usual.
-Multiple-part entries are welcome, but use this priviledge at your own discretion.
-Your level must fit the theme. For an abstract theme like this, as long as the theme is the overlying one within either the level design or the story, you're okay.
-No dirty sh*t in the level. (B'aw.)
-The entry has to have been specifically created for the LDC. From scratch.
-You are allowed to enter a level made in collaboration with someone else, but again, use discretion.
The levels would be judged in the following way:
10 points for Fun, because what is a game if it's not entertaining?
5 points for Graphics, because who doesn't want something pleasing on the eyes?
5 points for Other, because really, does everyone judge something the same way?
The judges have not been decided yet, save for Moy who seems to get off on judging(to each his own, I guess. :>), and you can...not really count on me as a back-up judge. (I'm kidding, but only come to me if you're really desperate~) So they will be announced shortly.
And finally, the deadline.
5th of May, because Mexico. 12th of May. That is all. (If you need an extension, make sure to contact either me or Moy with the reason and how much you need, you know the drill.)
