Wait there was a 23rd contest?
I can tell I'm too late!
If it wasn't for me getting sick I would've had a huge level ready by now...
Ah well when will the next contest be?
If it's interesting I might make something for that.
In the mean time I better get working on that comic my parents want me to make. X_X
I'm home schooled now

I actually had several reasons for having retired in the first place... (yeah, for those who didn't know, I didn't feel like joining any LDCs again)

In first place, at the moment I did I was kind of unsure in a lot of things I guess, and wasn't sure of should my time be spent on. Besides of the fact that I tend to procrastinate in a lot of things...

In second place... he fact that I kind of started to get bored of the Level Designer itself. It does have a good amount of things that could be improved and all... It would be awesome if Runouw or someone else with enough knowledge of Flash did a better version (if I ever get to learn Actionscript I'll give it a shot myself :awe: ). I mean, LOOK AT LAST LEGACY! With the layers and the automatic tiles and the everything... It doesn't need to be completely LL-like, especially given some differences between engines, but there are a few things that would be nice.

In third place... I got tired of the Level Designer scene. Not sure why. Maybe the fact I never got past 4th place and (from my point of view at least) wasn't really that appreciated as a LDer. After I retired some people were like "No, you're awesome" and stuff like that, but I wouldn't know. There's also the fact that LDCs seem to be like the only way to measure one's skillz. I mean, you don't get a medal for making a series in the Portal. You have to do stuff for LDCs. Which is probably why all the levels I made were for LDCs. Yeah. I now realize I was doing it for the fame. Or something. I don't really like that idea very much. One should do things because one likes to do it. So, given that I didn't care about the "fame" anymore, and I seemed to be getting tired of the LDing itself, I quit.

LDing was pretty much the reason I joined Runouw... You'd think I would have left, especially considering I'm going to college (to be precise, I start tomorrow), but nope. I like this page, this community, and I've made a few friends... I hope... So I hang in here every now and then.

After a bit, I came to Last Legacy and now I've been playing with its designer for a while. In case you didn't know, I made most of the tiles for AwesomeJRFD's SMB 1-1 Remake (I wanted to do trigger stuff, but he did the whole thing xD). So I thought maybe I could start designing in LL, or something. And since there weren't any LDCs for it yet, I could truly do it for the art. Cool, heh?

And then JSlayerXero asked me if I wanted to collaborate with him in this LDC. I didn't really feel like designing for SM63, but I decided to do it. Xero's my friend, and even if he has weird mood swings and sometimes is a jerk to me :awe: I do care for him. So I did it for the Friendship. When one of us didn't feel like continuing, the other one would do stuff. And so, our combined powers of Level Designed and Insanity gave birth to Hall of the Editor. Maybe it's not a very good level (although I like it myself), but we did it together.

I'm not sure if I'm gonna design for SM63 again, but I actually might do it again now. It might have a lot of flaws, but the SM63 LD can do some cool stuff (and when I make my improved LD it will be even better xD ). So, maybe I'll see you around... and if you want to do a collab or something... I'll consider it.

Very long post and I actually realized a few things WHILE writing it. Mystical stuff.
Some day I'll fix my sig.

Yikes, I didn't expect that asking for a bit of extra time would spark such a firestorm.

I'll just sit it out, then, it if causes so much trouble. Joy for mixed messages.

Will do sporadic level reviews on request - PM if interested. I will only do one level at a time. I tend to be rather critical.

Volcove, you did nothing wrong, I just snapped, and I apologize for creating a ♥♥♥♥ because of it.

Is there really any reason anybody should be apologizing to anybody? As SuYo said, Volcove didn't really do anything wrong. Logically, during the two days he would've spent finishing his level the judges would be, well, judging. There wouldn't be any setback unless they all finished before Volcove finished his level. Even then that's still a fairly minor set back as in that case he's the last level to be judged. Granted, this only applies since he's the only extension, but still.

The rest of us simply stated our opinion. Perhaps we stated our opinion too much. I was in a bit of a depressed mood swing when I wrote the first couple of posts in this conversation. I reread some of the most recent pages. To summarize what I've read, the complaints and comments are:
  • Most of the people that get in the top 6 are practically decided the moment they enter.
  • LDCs have a tendency to drag on for too long.
  • A follow up is that when they don't drag on they happen too often. I forgot which LDC it was that lasted a year or so. I just recall I was actually around when that thing was ending.
  • As far as complaints towards extension, the main issue is that people ask for them just because Real Life is being obnoxious and they can't spend time on the Internet. Now, the thing is, I would be okay with this, but I've not once seen detail. They can just say RL sucks and get a day or two. However, if RL keeps getting in the way then maybe you shouldn't spend as much time on the internet.
Some suggestions included making them happen only a few times a year, having stricter deadlines and possibly even separating users by experience. Nan went on a tangent about why he quit Level Designing in the first place (or at least SM63 LD'ing). And most importantly, LDCs are supposed to be for fun. What little you gain from these shouldn't determine you as a person. I'm sure I missed something, but this is basically the gist of what was being said across two or so pages. A bit of a tl;dr if you may.

Being someone who's opinionated from the face of things, I wholeheartedly agree with deadlines being much stricter.

Uhh, okay, so I figured I should let you all know that a rather serious health issue came up recently, so I hope you'd all understand if my judgings are delayed a week or two (shouldn't be longer than that, two weeks is pretty much the max) as things return to normal.
