Shouldn't this belong under that "Fun" category everybody loves so much around here? Besides me anyways Look on the brights side, if there is one, there was one jump involving that clock hand that involved going under one of the two starting platforms. Yeah, it's way harder than it sounds, so I removed it. That one Coin probably would've extended completion time by about 5-10 minutes by itself.

Welp, my level succeed one of its goals and failed the other. You win this time Nan. I have to wonder what would happen if I finally decided to make an SM63 level that doesn't involve an abstract-ish theme that's bizarre and warped as I can possibly make it. Oh wait no that's the only reason I make SM63 levels. Making something normal utterly bores me for some reason. I don't really know why. Next thing you know I'll intentionally make the worst possible playable level for an LDC just to see how low I can get my score. That oughta be fun.
KABOOM wrote:Graphics: 3/5 Wacky, weird, works well. Not particularly great, either, though.

Are you sure that's English?
KABOOM wrote:+1 This level is so filled with originality it requires one entire point to express.
Overall: 13.1/20 Quite original, but in the end, it's still essentially wandering around trying to figure stuff out.

Dreams are such an unexplored concept in SM63. Or maybe they aren't. I honestly wouldn't know since I've been out of touch from this game for so long. I was reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland when I was making this. It's partly why I decided to try and make this as strange and bizarre as possible. It's one thing I'm actually decent at.

OK, I retested the level Mega. It's still possible to get it stuck with the shell from the top Koopa, but it's not something you're normally going to happen upon by accident like I did.

Emelia Kaylee wrote:I just have to ask whether the moving-block segment in the upper right is possible.

It's possible to do it without getting damaged, but it depends on when you jump onto the first of the moving blocks and how the timing of the blocks and flame towers line up. I really should have worked on the timing, in hindsight, but I guess it's a little late for that.

Oh, the koopa up there... I didn't think that would make an effect - I just got rid of a koopa right next to the gap and put a Shyguy in there. Well, whatever. It wouldn't make an effect to the results at all, so yeah.

Something worth noting about the wall thing; you land on a platform that's surrounded by the rocks, and since you can clearly fall through it I thought it was obvious. Oh well, happens to the best of us ;)

KABOOM wrote:-0.1: I finally made it to the end...only to have missed the very first Silver Star. Why is that star even there?

Tension. You have to purposefully go back to see the flames rising. Design choice that is both good and bad.

KABOOM wrote:+0:

Gotta love this :D

KABOOM wrote:+0.25 The sense of tension created by the rising flames and the music is just plain awesome.

Yes FF8 music is approved :D I was somewhat shaky on this one, halfway tempted to quickly switch it to a Super Meat Boy piece, but that was too mainstream :P (irony in this statement is unbeliavable)

And now enough about me:
KABOOM wrote:+0.5 For a very original concept that required actual coding to create.

I'm pretty sure you can just place the blocks on a bigger level, make them move and then shrink the whole thing ;) Nice concept, quite simple to do (not to execute well mind you)

Volkove wrote:Does something low effort / casual / incomplete, it gets first. Especially when the previous incarnation got 6th.

Nothing to shake your stick at ;) I thought the concept was cool and innovative (didn't play the first one). Once I've played it, it was no suprise why you got first.

MegaR
Fun- 8.25/10
Straightforward platforming, but quite unique, while still maintaining a sort of unique feel. This is sort of a riff off of Sonic and to an extent Star king, but regardless it was run, simple, and had some really clever moments, like the sling star get.
Graphics-4.5/5
A bit too monochromatic, but structurally I loved it, and I loved the bridges. The layout was fantastic and made for fun gameplay.
Other-3.25/5
+.5 Good alternate music.
-.25 I wasn’t fond of the bit at the bottom, how you had to have super supreme timing to nail that right.
Overall- 16/20
This is about what a clean and crisp 25q level should look like. Good work.

Blackyoshi
Fun-8/10
The exploration element was fun, and so were the little games as well, although the whole thing felt a tiny bit underwhelming; not because it was 25/25, but because last year you really made your space work for you whereas this time you only used about half of it for really productive moments. However, it really fit the Halloween spirit.
Graphics-4.5/5
It looked great with a great tile schematic, but the stuff in the air just really felt iffy being all up in the air like that. Ah well, whatcha gonna do.
Other-3.25/5
+.25 Good alternate music
Overall- 15.75/20
Not the best of the bunch but really creative.

Harmless
Fun- 8.5/10
I like it when a level is bold enough to just let someone explore a pretty place. You do that here, and it really rings true; I just love swimming through it.
Graphics- 4.75/5
Looks sublime, other than the rock in the center. You make 25x25 feel so much bigger.
Other-3.5/5
+.5 Excellent alternate music.
Overall- 16.75/20
It’s not the most innovative, but it is seriously beautiful.

Yurimaster09
Fun- 7.5/10
It’s pretty decent gameplay, but rather confusing and disorienting; not disorienting in a good I’m-really-feeling-this-chaos way, but in a ♥♥♥♥ kind of way. Once you get past those moments, however, you provide some good challenges.
Graphics- 4.5/5
It’s super bold and mostly pays off well, although it can get really messy.
Other-3/5
-.5 How was I supposed to know that beneath the darkness where one star was teetering off the edge was a goddamn bottomless pit?
+.5 Good story.
Overall- 15/20
It’s pretty good but it needs tweaking.

Dtroid
Fun- 9/10
I was surprised playing this level that it was so good; a marked improvement from past levels, if I do say so myself. Excellent puzzle, really sharp and well-thought out work.
Graphics- 4.5/5
Simple yet works well. The darkness was sort of handled sloppily though.
Other- 2.75/5
-.5 I don’t get the need of that transition at the end, it just glitches things up.
+.25 Great usage of under-the-level green platform.
Overall- 16.25/20
Pretty goshdarn great work.

Triple J
Fun- 8.25/10
A very fun and unique level, although rather confusing at times. Not to the level of the Blazzard Castle of FML, but I did get puzzled as to what I could touch and what I could do. Regardless, a very original play.
Graphics- 4.75/5
You are goddamn good at graphics.
Other- 3/5
Overall- 16/20
A great trademark Triple J level.

Konradix
Fun- 9/10
You clever son of a ♥♥♥♥♥, this is a fantastic level. Excellent innovation, hugely clever, if not a tad bit confusing.
Graphics- 4.5/5
Somewhat messy but otherwise fabulous.
Other- 3/5
-.5 Did you really have to make ALL those stone blocks disabled and intangible? That screwed me over so many times, now being able to find my way around.
+.5 DAT FIRE
Overall: 16.5/20
Aside from a few tuneups it needs, great fun.

NanTheDark

Fun-8.25/10
Basic platforming yet still flows well and is quite fun.
Graphics- 4.25/5
The style works well for the setting, although it's not overly unique.
Other- 3/5
Overall: 15.5/20
Pretty good if not exceptional.

JSlayerXero
Fun- 8/10
This really nailed the dream aspect that your 25th LDC level did not. It was trippy but good fun.
Graphics-4.5/5
Crazy and all over the place. Just how I hate my nightmares.
Other-3/5
Overall- 15/20
Pretty good level, if not the greatest.

Kaboom
Fun- 8/10
A pretty good platformer, with some nice little moments to it but not the best I’ve played.
Graphics- 4.5/5
You make the scheme work for you, although it’s still super loose.
Other-3.5/5
+.5 Yes, I totally stole those fire cloud schematics.
Overall- 16/20
Pretty great, I love the schematic.

1018peter
Fun- 8.25/10
A great concept pulled off well, if not exceptional overall.
Graphics- 4.5/5
For a level revolving around a circle, it worked incredibly well.
Other-3/5
Overall- 15.75/20
It’s not the most original idea but it works.

EmiliaKaylee
Fun- 7.5/10
There wasn’t much originality or experimentation in this; it’s straightforward and fun, but still somewhat underwhelming compared to other entrants.
Graphics- 4.75/5
The graphics were really terrific in how they managed the microcosmic look, however.
Other- 3/5
Overall- 15.25/20
You run a pretty goshdarn good contest because you’re the second lowest I have so far and your level was pretty freaking good.

Suyo
Fun- 9.25/10
Suyo- bringing the idea of autoscrolling to the next level.
That was fun, ingenious, and freaking amazing. It did get infuriating sometimes, however, in some instances that were hard to wiggle out of, and once I died, I had a hard time not going “well, ♥♥♥♥ that” because I was at the end and there’s no way to even observe what happens at the end except wait fifteen minutes. Small complaints in a great level, though.
Graphics-3/5
Yeah yeah you knew that was coming. It looked as good as it could, but it was still really clumpy and misshapen.
Other- 4/5
+1 Greatest concept ever.
Overall- 16.25/20
A fantastic concept with a great execution.

Nwolf
Fun- 8/10
A great little stage that is as infuriating and ragequitty as you’d expect an Nwolf level to be.
Graphics- 4.5/5
They look pretty damn fine to me.
Other- 3.5/5
+.5 DAT CHECKPOINT SYSTEM
Overall- 16/20
It was a fun level overall. So yeah.

Volkove
Fun- 8/10
Pretty well done, as one would expect from Volkove, but at this rate it's lost the luster it used to have. Not nearly as exciting or fun as it used to be, but it's still a good play.
Graphics- 4/5
It looks pretty great, if not exceptional.
Other
+.75: Good attention to detail, very precise.
Overall- 15.75/20
Great work as usual, but it's starting to run its course.

Jesus Christ guys stop being so good.
1. Harmless (16.75)
2. NanTheDark (16.5)
3. Dtroid and Suyo (16.25)
4. Triple J, Nwolf, MegaR, and KABOOM. Isn’t that ♥♥♥♥ amazing. All of the common 4th placers get 4th place from me. (16)
5. 1018peter, Volkove and KT (15.75)
6. NanTheDark (15.5)
7. Emilia Kaylee (15.25)
8. Yurimaster09, JSlayerXero (who I totally don’t have a hate boner for, I swear) (15)

On one hand, I'm happy about these results. I almost nailed a medal, my level's considered "fast fiery fun", which is pretty much what I aimed for :awe: , and I defeated a certain rival... take that, you! :P You guys totally don't know who it is.

However, there's something... a certain something... that upsets me.
